Decent Cheap Marina around Malaga
Can anyone recommend a marina in the Malaga area? I will be sailing a 38 foot catamaran home to Norway from Tunisia in late May/early June and I intend to make a short stop near Malaga for crew changes and provisioning.
What should I expect to pay?
Any suggestions?

Hoping this might help - we stopped into Benelmadia when dropping off crew in 2006 and then it cost circa 40 euros for a 46 foot mono in July.
Why not phone a few? Most speak English.

Re: Decent Cheap Marina around Malaga
Im told the new La Linea Marina right next to Gibraltar is good value, I have a flyer here for Ocean Village Marina in GIB 2010, boats between 12 and 15metres are priced at 27 uk pounds per day so doubt its gone up much! Ocean Village is nice if you have not been before with loads of pubs and cafes plus a casino!

Hi Apneseth, I hope you dont think I am being cheeky but I am currently taking Day Skipper with Allabroadsailing academy in Gibraltar although I live in Marbella about 1 hour away! We are looking at buying a boat we hope by the end of the year, I would very much Value a short spin in a Catamaran like yours as we are interested in both Mono and Cat! Is this a possibility? Not sure how long you plan to stay?

Re: Decent Cheap Marina around Malaga
Hi Pablo,
I am not sure how long we will be there either. The first thing I need to sort out is the Norwegian Ship Registry (NOR) that is giving me all kinds of grief at the moment. Obviously the papers need to be in order before we can leave Tunisia.
After that the plan is to sail in four one week legs back to Norway. This is in order to accommodate for crew changes. If the winds are with us we should therefore be in Gibraltar with time to spare, but if not we will be in a rush. If time permits we can probably take you for a spin, but as of yet I don't know what the situation will be like when we reach Malaga/Gibraltar.

Which map are you using? You're talking over 3 hours by car, never mind public transport!

I think you'll find that and other prices that have been quoted are for monohulls, round here, cat's are usualy at least an extra 50% on the normal fee. Also, bus from Gib to Malaga? Unless you're some kind of masacist, DON'T!! You're talking about 3 hours+ each way, not a nice journey by bus.

Pablo, i'll be getting my 30ft Cat down here sometime in early/mid July, you're welcome to come for a sail after then if you'd like.

Congrats, looks like you could teach me a thing or two then! Yes, still in Duquesa, will be prepping her and sorting out any snags during July and then the plan is to do a bit of traveling after that.

Re: Decent Cheap Marina around Malaga
As it has turned out we have had several technical problems along the way, and way behind schedule we are now in La Linea in the Alcadeisa Marina.
They are charging us 25 Euros / day with water and a somewhat erratic electricity included. Friendly marina, half empty. There is a breakwater outside where we anchored the first night. Seemingly you are not allowed to but we met an Australian there who had spent a fair bit of time at anchor.
