Seen the pics for the new FP45 and think it looks great, very modern inside and such a great seating area up top for a 45 ft cat. Much prefer this set up to the Lagoon 46. Cockpit area much nicer also as I think the seating on the L46 and L50 is to fragmented.

I had the same reaction when I first saw the setup. Granted I only charter boats now, the FP 45 would be on my short list of the boat I hope to buy soon. The 45 does have a "standing desk" with the traditional drawer to keep passports, flags, etc. I think with current iPad setups, most users are navigating from wherever is most convenient. Upon reflection, I think a dedicated navigation desk is not as relevant anymore. If you did choose to, you could use the desk in the master berth which would have the same properties as a monohull nav station with no visibility.

I think the new salon layout is a fantastic use of space and I'd imagine the eventual replacement for the Saba will share this concept. I wish they would offer it as an option on the Saona but I think the location of the stairs to the port hull make that impossible.

FP has always hit the sweet spot for me with a coachroof lounge that is usable without the additional windage or raised boom of a full flybridge setup. That said, their foredeck lounging area always felt like an afterthought (even on the Saona which should have stolen the Saba setup). Glad to see with the Astrea and now 45 that a little more attention to detail can make a big difference.

Is USD price matters at this time? Since price is set with EU. By the time you will pay for the boat, it will be different USD price, but same EU price.

FYI that the first 45 will come out of production in May/June and will be shown at the FP Dealer conference in Portugal in June. The North American Debut will be at the Annapolis Boat show in October.

We looked at the new Lagoon 46 at the Miami Boat show and did not love the lounge deck layout, nor the compression post in the middle of the salon and the cockpit layout. We also checked out the Leopard 45 - i do like the forward cockpit, but not the salon space you give up for the door to get to it. The lack of a lounge deck is a huge bummer.

IMO FP is leading the pack on great design. We toured the 42 in Miami and it was beauteous. The initial reviews from Astrea owners who recently took delivery have been great. The 45 will have updated interiors from the 40/42/47 (the same design as the new 67) and will be even nicer.

The wife and I are looking closely at pulling the trigger on the 45 now.
