Lagoon 450 Weight

The 450s hulls are really fat. I wonder what the fineness is. That boat is 3 levels and has about half again more space than the Outie 45. No wonder it's so heavy.
And, Lagoons parent company also builds "vacation" homes. I wonder if these are trailers, mobile homes, or modulars. Most of these have a cheap quality reputation in the states and use lots of particle board. Particle board is heavy, dammit.

The Lagoon 450 only carries 300 litres of water and weighs in at 15.5 t.

One of the significant reasons lagoons are so much heavier is that they use modular construction methods on the production line ie the galley is a modular drop in, so is a berth etc. lots of extra weight built up pretty quickly like that but efficient, faster and therefore relatively cheaper to build.

Didnt know they were owned by a vacation home builder but makes perfect sense they have streamlined production this way with that background

I wonderred about the same - my Lagoon 410 ist 9 to, the 450 (with only 4 foot more) has 15,5 to and the 500 has up to 25 to.

Because I am thinking about a bigger boat, I tested the 450 - it has a lot of weighting gimmckis which I don´t need and the interieur is made of 50mm massive wood.

Additionally it has icemakers, 2 fridges, 2 freezers, a 15 kw power-station, etc.etc.

The difference between the 450 and 500 is again the much stronger material like a 100KG anchor (450 has a 25 KG anchor) and additional space.
