Anyone know what the scoop is on this one:

It's priced somewhat below other Prout 37s out there. The ad hints that it may have seen some rough times but not much detail regarding current condition.

Does the location have much affect on the price? Cayman's don't appear to have a booming boat market.

There is no income tax in Cayman so import duty on boats is quite high something like 20-30% so i assume this is already tax paid which will be of value to some there.

Kinda ironic as all the yachts flagged in Cayman can't actually go there without being seized for taxes owed.

The ad does indicate "tax paid".

I searched yachtworld for all sail under $150k in the Cayman's. There are two.

Makes me wonder why? Is it the tax situation? Are the Cayman's not a popular cruising destination?

It doesn't say where the tax was paid or where the boat is flagged. There are no flags, hailing ports, or even a name on the boat. I'm thinking it's euro vat paid and that's because Boatguy is correct about the import duty. The Cayman's aren't really in the main area for cruising. US citizens have the Cuba issue and Jamaica has issues as well. The Cayman's are a little hard to get to and for most it's easier to stay in the eastern Caribbean. They do have really favorable cruising reviews however.

Most boating in the caymans is just weekending. No where to cruise t to speak of except overnighting in the northern lagoon. There are a handful of liveaboard and toy can visit little Cayman with a shallow draft, but generally a hard upwind slog.
