Polaris 43 survey and sea trial day - Ventura CA
Just wanted to share a few pics of an exciting day yesterday, as we move forward on our consideration of a 1973 Polaris 43. We spent almost 14 hours aboard Lark - twisting, crawling on hand and knees, poking, tapping, rubbing, powering, tacking and gibing etcetera etc. I was pleased with the one page results! Beautiful sail in about 18 mph wind full 110% headsail and one reef in the main. The Perry designed cutaway keel and skeg hung rudder tracked amazingly and the 24,000 lbs double-ended took and ran on close haul - we got up to 6 kph quickly.
Cheers!
Here are some pics and vids:

Way cool, congratulations!
We used to have a similar Perry design, and miss her manners. My wife felt it was such an easy boat to drive and park.
I love that galley, flush foredeck, staysail, removed teak decks, outboard chainplates, and forward facing nav seat... And two whisker poles! Awesome.

Undoubtedly a nice looking boat, but based on Bob Perry's explanation ( The Lafitte Story - YACHT DESIGN) of how it came about I wouldn't contact him for design info.

Hi John,
I researched this boat quite a bit and read that article a few months ago. Yeah. He wasn't happy about the reproductions and I can see why! But in the end, after spending a year up and down the west coast and going aboard 100s of boats, this boat just fit all our needs, was immaculately taken care of and just felt exactly right as my wife and I sat in the cockpit and main cabin. We knew after 10 minutes, if it passed survey and sea trial, we would make an offer.
Bob, if you read this - sorry! But you designed a nice boat and it called my name

Doesn't one usually make an offer before sea trial and survey?
