It’s a 2011 aluminum Bestevaer. How do you think it should sell for?

A total bargain relative to the boat.

Question is does someone with deep pockets appreciate her?

Ahoy! Awaken your inner Viking!

The Draken Harald Hårfagre will sail into Norfolk from Thursday, September 13-Sunday, September 16 during its Expedition America: East Coast Tour 2018.

I had the great pleasure of seeing this boat up close while it was in Mystic Seaport. I marveled at the beauty of this long ship and relished seeing the wood hull and fittings. It is really a robust but graceful looking beauty of a wooden boat.

I would love to see it again. It is well worth visiting.
___________

Learn more about the ship, and its 2018 tour of other ports in the USA.

During the tour Draken will visit 14 harbors across the East Coast of the U.S. spanning from Maine to South Carolina.

From the linked site:
“115 feet from stem to stern, 26 feet wide, 260 square meters of silk sail and a 79 feet tall mast made from Douglas fir. She is a seaworthy ship, able to sail the Oceans of the World.

At a hundred and fourteen feet of crafted oak, twenty-seven feet on the beam, displacing eighty tons, and with a thirty-two hundred square foot sail, this magnificent ship is indeed worthy of a king.”

Public deck tours (up 1,800 people/day)

Re: Outstanding Boats - A Special Selection of Unusual and Noteworthy Boats I Find

Saw this interesting boat today online.

It is an "Outstanding" boat because it is an unusual, custom design, aluminum expedition styled boat. Those are uncommon, and I like them. They make me think about the type of boat I would want to use to sail through the Northwest Passage or to voyage around the world.

Adding it here because it is still in a "Like New" condition and it has a Lifting Keel with minimum draft of only 4 feet.

Re: Outstanding Boats - A Special Selection of Unusual and Noteworthy Boats I Find

Thanks for adding Malabar to your Outstanding boats.

A few of my favorite things about the boat are:
-massive water capacity that can be transfered from side to side via pumps to adjust heel
-stupidly large battery bank (over 2000 amp hours)
-sea chest & watertight bulkheads
-all welds below the waterline dye tested (unheard of)
-emergency tiller able to be setup within the safety of the boat
-KISS adopted throughout boat, mechanical lifting keel, simple systems, highly efficient refrigeration & water
-and the list goes on and on

More pictures can be found here:
Yachts for Sale | 2014 Aluminum Cruisers Expedition Sailing Vessel 53 53 Boats for Sale | Knot 10 Yacht Sales

I also have a 52 page writeup on the boat, its history, lifting keel advantages, etc... and an approximately 300 picture gallery showing most all the systems and some of the not so perfect spots too

Thanks again for the add, and please feel free to reach out to me about the boat even if its just to chat! My info is on the link.

Very nice. I'd like to read that 52 page report. Seems like a lot of thought has gone into her. Three rudders should give reasonable propwash over the central rudder. Should make her much more manageable under power.

Steadman's Notes

Why did I add this old boat to Outstanding Boats?

Because I like the design, the size, and in this case, the outstanding low price!

I have long admired the Maple Leaf boats. In some ways I consider them a "dream boat" for someone who dreams of living aboard a big sailboat. They are roomy. They typically have lots of headroom, spacious cabins and saloons. They often have a very nice galley. Big boats with lots of room and lots of deck.

They are typically a Center Cockpit boat, and I like that they have a hard dodger.

When I saw this boat, at this asking price, my first thought was: "WOW! That is a lot of boat for that price."

Then I looked at the equipment list. It seems to have a lot of desirable gear.

This boat owner wrote that this boat has an unusual layout (galley is forward of the mast). I encountered a similar layout on a 100 foot yacht I boarded this summer.

Notice the links below to videos.

There is more information on the sale ad. I just put an excerpt of it here to share.

Re: Outstanding Boats - A Special Selection of Unusual and Noteworthy Boats I Find

I like the Maple Leaf boats.

In addition to the one I just posted up above, there is another one for sale in San Diego that has many photos showing the nice interior. This particular boat is Asking Price $39,900 and the ad says it needs work.

It may be just the thing for a family looking for a big live aboard boat. It has numerous berths in the cabins and a nice private aft Master cabin.

Here is a link: https://www.yachtworld.com/boats/198...ckpit-3205175/

Unfortunately I cannot post photos from Yachtworld here, but I think it is worth a look.

Thanks to HPEER for the link notice.
