Oh i forgot to mention the boat next to Prime time was the brokers boat, the guy we went to see about the Mason in the first place...George(the broker) was friends with the PO,and a super guy. we wanted to include him in the deal(because without him we would have never found the CSY) so he's doing the paper work on the sale for a very small fee. i feel CARMA got us here, so we got to pay it forward... ..Ed

Boat rename
Hi Ed --
My Mom left me the money to buy our boat when she passed, as well. Since she was the person who got me reintroduced to boating, I renamed our Tartan 37 Betty Lou in her honor. If you can't stay safe and happy in a boat named for your Mom, you're not going be be safe ANYWHERE!
Congrats on a fine looking vessel.

Hello from Florida: just wanted to give you guys an update. We hauled her out yesterday, and holy cow what a big boat! After 5 years in the water, the petit Trinidad was doing it's job(amazing). Now we do the thru hulls and seacocks, cut the keel down to five feet(this was an option on the CSY's),and do the bottom paint job.Yvonne and I are so excited. We can't wait to get started on the rest of the boat........Well off to the yard...........Fair winds...........Ed

At first look, I would think that cutting off 19" of keel would be a recipe for disaster - but - it seems the CSY44 was factory designed for this and had located the ballast above the "cut-off-able" portion. See:

I wonder why people are always so quick to immediately rename boats? Do they forget that it is bad luck? Do they care? And has anybody ever bothered to compile statistics on renamed vs unchanged boat names and their 'history'?
It certainly would be an interesting read. One would think that at the risk of angering Poseidon, more folks would just let the existing name ride.
With that said, that is certainly a pretty boat with a less-than-ideal name, and I can see why you would want to rename her. I'm just wondering if it's maybe better to try and find out what her name was originally...or at least before it was 'Prime Time', and simply revert back to a past name. Poseidon would tend to cut more slack if that were the case...one would hope
By the way, for a cutter, it seems to have lost its bowsprit....or is that it folded back? Naw, I don't see it.
