HELP ME, need moorage in SoCal

I am looking at a good deal for a 1976 Ericson 36c. My problem is the seller has to move the boat and will not accept an offer without proof that I have a wet slip or a mooring to move the boat to after the close.

I found a slip at Kings Harbor for $987/month, not an option. Can anyone suggest a slip or mooring field that is reasonably priced and has openings. I can't believe I am the only newby who has or is currently going through this.

Thanks in advance,

Mike G

Re: HELP ME

If you're open for another 80 miles south of San Diego, I'm paying about $450/mo at Cruiseport marina in Ensenada. Walking distance to decent restaurants. Safe and secure. Commute over border sucks.

Re: HELP ME

Thanks for the info. It is another option I could use. So far I see that my options are:

Wet Slip
Mooring
Anchorage
Over the border
Placement on the hard until a reasonably priced slip or a mooring is available.

Thanks

Re: HELP ME

Another point of interest is Starlink in Mexico is currently running $75/mo for the old RV plan (I forget what it's called now. Mobile something)

Re: HELP ME

Check in all the marinas in Channel Islands. They had a lot of slips damaged by previous storms but I do know some 30 foot slips have opened up at Peninsula yacht marina. They had been clearing out some boats, they may have a 35 foot side tie but I am not sure. Check at Anacapa marina too. Good luck!

Re: HELP ME

Thanks for the reply,

I've contacted Peninsula Marina. Anacapa marina said no slips open. I will get to the channel Island Marinas if there are none closer.

Thanks,

Mike G

Re: HELP ME

There’s always Wilmington too, I wouldn’t be surprised if one of those marinas has a slip. A while back I heard that Cabrillo marina in LA harbor might have some openings but not sure.

Re: HELP ME

I hope it works out for you. I always thought those 36Cs looked like nice boats!

Re: HELP ME

LA harbor/San Pedro are the only ones advertising open slips in The Log.

Re: HELP ME

Thanks Calif Ted,

I wasn't aware that there were so many smaller marinas behind Carillos. I will contact them all.

Thank you,

Re: HELP ME

They compile a list of ALL slips every year, and there are additional ads in their "digital" edition that comes out every 2 weeks. Best bet right now probably San Pedro/LA or Chula Vista in San Diego.

Thanks Adelie,

I talked to the San Diego Mooring Company today. They said they have a 1 year waiting list.

Thank you,
