The topsail is a really cool sail on this boat.

I think this is the schooner that I remember in Halfmoon Bay in California in the early 90's. Very traditional boat.

1985 Endeavour 42 Sloop For Sale — PRICE LOWERED!

Speaking of Endeavours, this one was tempting but I think I'd prefer a 45 ketch. I've heard varying reports of the 45s, so if one popped up in my price range, I'd have to do some research.

Stark is also listed on woodenboat magazine/classified web page. Yes, indeed, we bought it when berthed in Half Moon Bay, brought it up to Puget Sound area. Current owner took the boat up into Alaska for 20 years or so - maybe home port in Sitka.

This size Schooner was a surprisingly easy rig to sail short handed. My wife wants to go look at it. I keep saying No. as I know what would happen.

I thought so. Beautiful boat and belongs in cooler latitudes. I use to watch the prior owner sail it out and back into the slip effortlessly. He owned the chandery in Halfmoon. I think it was his wife's father that built it.
Oh...if were only a rich man..

1990 Falmouth Cutter 22 in Port Angeles, Washington. $29.5K.

https://www.yachtworld.com/yacht/199...utter-8106085/

I found this by accident. If this was 2000 miles closer to me I'd seriously consider it.

These are cult boats. 22 feet seems small, but they have inner bigness! Very doable for a single hander to go anywhere.

I assume it has no trailer.

Some of these boats had small inboard engines and would then usually be about twice the price. There were thousands built and they have a good reputation as a nice small weekend cruiser.

Another nice boat for a small price!

I take it that these are season end prices in a place where the cost of keeping the boat over the winter is high?

Re: Boats Less Than $30K Recent Noteworthy Finds

1974 Grampian 34 Center cockpit ketch $25K Cdn (~$19K US) near Halifax, Nova Scotia.

https://www.kijiji.ca/v-sailboat/bed...oat/1622898007

I'm not sure about this one. It's large, homely (imo) and some of the interior is a bit strange, but it does have an aft cabin of sorts, I think.
Some smaller Grampians didn't have a great reputation, a lot have been scrapped in the last 50 years, but this has survived a long time and has an engine with <1000 hours, apparently.
Some decent gear.

At this price it won't last long, but winter will be there soon (not to mention Nicole)...
