Re: Boats Gotta Go, how do I get rid of it?

Maybe offer the boat for free - so long as they pay for the rest of the marina slip contract. Good luck-

If Sea Scouts is part of BSA I would really rather not give it to them, I have ideological issues with that organization. I tried Boat Angel and they said the time stamp on the photos wasn't recent enough. I reached out to another organization a week ago and they've not gotten back to me.

Try Craigslist or the sailor who said he is interested. Or both.

Be honest on Craigslist and be up front about any marina fees that are owed and who will pay them. Many people are interested in boats that need work as long as they are inexpensive. Free is a powerful word.

Keep in mind that we are in the middle of a 100 year special event right now. I wish you luck. But people are dealing with loss of jobs, health, food supplies , etc. right now buying an old beater boat maybe the last thing on peoples minds. But I feel your pain.

Re: Boats Gotta Go, how do I get rid of it?

This is slightly smaller than what I've been looking for, but if I can swing the berthing fees with my retirement, LA is an 8 hour drive South of me, and I'd be happy to take the vessel off your hands.

This might Gods provision to move me into starting out with a smaller boat.
I'm guessing this could be trailered much easier and cheaper than a 56'...

Is there a current due on the slip ?
If not, what is the ammt and the date it WILL be due ?

Re: Boats Gotta Go, how do I get rid of it?

Hi.
Which marina are you based out of?
I'm in costa Mesa and just moved from Canada where I had a tanzer 26. Would love to get something here that I could sail.
I'm serious. Let me know the details.
You can contact me here, or email s_luckett100 at hot mail dot com

Cheers

Put me in line also.
First you needed to dump it, now you have people lining up.

If you have an organization that is likely to take it, but needs current photos, there are plenty of photographers that are out of work right now.

I used to be a photographer, and can't help but notice that there are plenty of photographers out there just getting into the business who aren't very good but are plenty good enough to provide in focus, sharp photos. Check Craigslist or do a search for them near the boat's location. $50 to $75 for a dozen photos. No retouching, and just on-camera flash for the interior photos. And email them to you.

Well, I've not been based there for some time and have been dealing with multiple health and life issues. Now with the Pandemic there is even less chance of me getting down there any time soon to sell it. I'm happy to give is away, I've already contacted a couple donating agencies, but had an issue needing recent photos for one and the other has not gotten back to it. I'd gladly mail the title and key to someone but I need that slip fee out of my budget ASAP.

What are my options? Are there boat salvage people who would take it off my hands? It's not in condition condition, has had some problems, has collected some rain water on the floor, delimitation on one of the benches in the cockpit and so on, but the motor works (last I checked) and it sails. But it's got to go immediately.

Advise needed please!

Re: Boats Gotta Go, how do I get rid of it?

Hi, I live in Long Beach work next to LAX and I would love to take your boat. I have two girls that are getting to the age that they can learn to sail. I can easily get to any marina in the LA area. If you haven't found it a home yet please contact me and I will give it a home where it will be well loved and used frequently.

I am an experienced sailor, cruiser, and Navy Vet who has owned a yacht cleaning and maintenance business in the past. I'm not shy of a fixer upper and enjoy boat projects.

I would gladly take it off your hands! Located in the Los Angeles area. This sounds like a perfect perfect project to work on and to improve my sailing. Also located in the Los Angeles area.

Re: Boats Gotta Go, how do I get rid of it?

Craigslist is best. There might even be someone asking for a free boat on it. Just make sure you transfer title with California DMV. There you go. Got a person already. I guess this forum is the best place.
