24 Foot Aluminum Sloop

I purchased this boat back in 2000 from a teacher in Mystic, CT. It is all aluminum except the keel, which is lead. I have searched every inch of this vessel and can find no manufacturers plate anywhere. The gentleman I bought it from said it had been made by a firm in Great Britain who had made airplanes during WWII and then switched over to boat building after the war. Not a lot of help there....He also stated that Dr Benjamin Spock had had the same type of sailboat. The registration gives it's manufacture date as 1966. There are fittings for an inboard motor, but there is none. I just use a 5 hp outboard. I'll attach photo's and any help in IDing her would be greatly appreciated!

Re: 24 Foot Aluminum Sloop

The boat was imported from enland along with 5 others by Ed Terranger of Fort Lauderdale after WWII. I had one in the 70s with and Arnolt Sea Might 4 cyl gas engine. 4' draft, 8' beam 32 1/2' stick, 8 foot boom.

A solid boat but watch out for electrolisis between the Iron keel and the Aluminum hull.

Ah...that is very very helpful....Do you by any chance remember who the maker was of the boat?

Thanks
