I used the guy's website to get to the doctored charts I posted up earlier. His article seems fine enough for the purpose and I didn't sprout anything he has written as being from some position of "authority". I stated I found the doctored charts enough to convince me that there's something not quite above board with some data manipulation or homogenization or whatever. Which is just my opinion, of course.

It's only 16 degrees F here in Whoville, MA. Going to warm up the car for 20 minutes.

Re: Global Warming Opens Up Antarctic Waterways
Cruiserchic34, there's no stopping them once they get the bit in their teeth.
Relating the threat of global warming to boating:
I live in a warm place where we can cruise all year and feel sorry for you folks in North America every time I see a news bulletin on TV showing 6' of snow in the eastern US, must play hell with your cruising.
If global warming is going to result in sea rises, bring it on, I spend a fair bit of time aground because many of the interesting places I want to go could do with a few more feet of water over them.

Repealing the carbon tax and the Clean Energy Package is designed to:
Reduce the cost of living - modelling by the Australian Treasury suggests that removing the carbon tax in 2014-15 will leave average costs of living across all households around $550 lower than they would otherwise be in 2014-15.
Lower retail electricity by around 9 per cent and retail gas prices by around 7 per cent than they would otherwise be in 2014-15 with a $25.40 carbon tax.
Boost Australia’s economic growth, increase jobs and enhance Australia’s international competitiveness by removing an unnecessary tax, which hurts businesses and families.
Reduce annual ongoing compliance costs for around 370 liable entities by almost $90 million per annum.
Remove over 1,000 pages of primary and subordinate legislation.

Absolutely correct. Australia's Carbon Tax was pretty much the dumbest piece of legislation in history.

It was a symptom of Australia's very finely balanced political system whereby a few or even one elected representatives can hold the keys to power. The Greens and other splinter parties can use the balance of power situation to make grubby deals with a party desperate for power to form a government which is then obliged to pass this sort of legislation. Generally gets fixed when the political pendulum swings the other was.

Well for the dumbest piece of legislation, I've not seen a single drop in any of those costs for my family, but I know the Gine Rhineharts and other multi corporations have saved billions. But hey, that's capitalism, the rich get richer and the poor poorer. The American way is now the Australian way.

Subduction causes the land to subside as it slips under tectonic plates. It doesn't push the ocean up. Basically what happens is the ocean floor is fed back into the Earth's mantle. Sooner or later it drags fringing islands down with it. Interesting fact. The floors of the oceans are no older than 200 million years. In the Eastern Pacific they're even younger at a maximum 120 million years. Just shows how active a process subduction is.
Other processes causing sinking islands are natural processes and over extraction from fresh water aquifers. There are also anthropogenic reasons for sinking islands, but they're not related to climate change.
Islands sinking due to raising sea levels is a warmista fantasy. No island in the world is, at least yet, sinking as a result of sea level rise or increased storm activity. Have a think about it. This would be the ultimate "smoking gun" pro-AGW is wishing for. The best "your mob" can do is try and convince the masses that sea level rise is the major cause. Which it isn't.
And stop asking me how old the world is. Accusing me of being a Creationist is far more insulting and disrespectful to Creationists then it will ever be to me. If you really want to know go Google it. You may stumble across some other surprising facts that'll expand your universe while you're at it.

Re: Global Warming Opens Up Antarctic Waterways
I think that to help with global cooling/global warming/climate change/whatever it's called today, we should all go cruising in our sailboats, use oars for our dinghies, put up wind and/or solar power generation on the boat, and try and never use the motors unless we absolutely have to.
That should about cover it for all of us. Now what do we do about all of the politicians and super rich guys jetting all over the place in private jets?
I say we just kill them!
