Arctic ice is a little low but there is no cause for panic. Through most of the winter it was higher than both 2011 and 2012. It was only lower than both for a week and not by much. We had a hot week here in RI two weeks ago so that might well have been the same period.
Move along. Nothing to see here.

You obviously didn't check up on Gemima Harvey's climate qualifications, did you?

But, but, but climate change is forever. What's 6 years??
And has the Maldive sunk in the meantime?

You're being deliberately disingenuous, the M.o. of the deniers.
This is not six years old, but 6 months:

Well for the dumbest piece of legislation, I've not seen a single drop in any of those costs for my family, but I know the Gine Rhineharts and other multi corporations have saved billions. But hey, that's capitalism, the rich get richer and the poor poorer. The American way is now the Australian way.
|
It was an excuse to go on a spending spree typical left wing crap from people who will never accept that in order to distribute wealth in the long term you must first create it.
Australia and Australians were a part of the British empire which was capitalist well before the United States even existed and in fact one might say that along with the industrial revolution the British almost single handedly invented capitalism.

So who's panicking?
From the Denmark sea ice services site you reference:
Northern Hemisphere Sea Ice extent
Total sea ice extent on the northern hemisphere during the past years, including climate mean; plus/minus 1 standard deviation. The ice extent values are calculated from the ice type data from the Ocean and Sea Ice, Satellite Application Facility ( OSISAF), where areas with ice concentration higher than 15% are classified as ice.
The total area of sea ice is the sum of First Year Ice (FYI), Multi Year Ice (MYI) and the area of ambiguous ice types, from the OSISAF ice type product. The total sea ice extent can differ slightly from other sea ice extent estimates. Possible differences between this sea ice extent estimate and others are most likely caused by differences in algorithms and definitions. Some time in 2013 sea ice climatology and anomaly data will become available here.
This is the graph they used to use. you'll notice the maximums were all centered around 11 m sq/km. This led to a misconception about underreporting so they started using
this one:
The interesting thing about the EUMETSAT graph above, and the NSDIC graph below is how closely they match. (indicating in my mind good science)
Of course what really matters is the condition of the ice, not it's extent. Here's a picture of Nare's Strait from yesterday at 78 degrees North. If up is north in the picture, the vertical pass in the center is the Northwest Passage. The North pole is about 800 miles to the right. The entire arctic image is updated daily here: Rapid Response - LANCE - Arctic Mosaic - Terra 4km True Color 2015/083 (03/24), a casual look will show that almost the entire arctic ice pack is heavily fractured. I wouldn't be surprised if one would be able to circumnavigate Greenland this year, you almost could last year...

Re: Global Warming Opens Up Antarctic Waterways
Again, if the data comes from any Government agency or group which includes any thing with N if front of it like NASA or NOAA for example they are told by our Gov. what to put out there not scientist or authorities collecting the data (everything now is Political) read between the lines. They can not be trusted. Our Gov. is using the IRS, Energy Dep., Justice Dep., EPA, State Department, all the additional Gov. Agency's not listed here and the media for their nefarious purposes to support their argument. Then months later, after being vented, they are forced to adjust their data or to qualify it by Congressional Hearings with subpoena power. For example our new Affordable Health Care Act. I'm personally paying three time more for my wife's health insurance with higher deductibles then I was a year before it came to be supposable affordable. All of the estimates were cooked, all the data of people signing up for it was cooked, all the estimates for cost were guessed and they were 200% off in there final estimate. The guy who engineered the Affordable Care Act came out and said if they told the truth no one would have signed up for it. There is a 100% correlation between Global warming and our health care. The Gov. was supplying all the data to make their argument. Let's look at outside data for our next decision. We already blew the health care decision or should we be suckered into a second bad decision a few months later. Then it's our fault. We know what we are dealing with now, before there was just suspicion. No reason to rush into it now, let's watch Europe's data another year or two. For now the Polar Bears are safe.

Re: Global Warming Opens Up Antarctic Waterways
Comparison of the NYT graph and the Danish graph shows that the 2015 line has been lowered by whoever fed NYT the story in order to make it more scary. Michael Mann did the same thing.

funny that right wingers seem to deny climate change, and also love guns
As for Britain, it also invented the modern welfare state and the NHS and regularly elects very left wing governments since WW1. ( as will happen in may I predict )
It would wrong to characterise the Empire as capitalist , its should be characterised as … "An Empire" , which is the ultimate projection of the nation state onto others

no deniers claim they do and refuse to look at the underlying science data and its peer reviewed conclusions or make up lies about the IPCC etc
im unusual in that I fully accept that climate change is occurring and that man has a significant inout. Im different in that I don't think we should do anything about it !!!
