Regardless of how this thread got started, StuM, thanks for that link. I have lots of pilot chart sources online, but none that are quite as handy for a quick review over the whole year.

Get hold of a copy of the Admiralty publication 'Ocean Passages for the World' .... apart from the sailing ship routing info in the text... also comes with a nice map...

Re: Delivery trip Singapore to America

Looking at that site and assuming a San Fran endpoint:

Get yourself to Brisbane (3500 nm)
Depart Brisbane late June for Rapa Nui (5000 nm).
Turn left and head for San Fran (another 4000 nm).
Sleep

Total: 12,500 nm or about 4.5 months sailing (averaging 4 knots)

Or 1 month on a cargo ship.

When my kids were young I always dreaded having my phone ring at work. I never knew what ringtone they had put on it.

It is good that each and every one of you are seasoned sailors, irony is something that you should avoid to be more constructive, it is supposed to be through the Pacific Ocean

Re: Delivery trip Singapore to America

Starting in Singapore go south, that’s the S on your compass.
At first you will encounter many islands big and small, dodge them all , keep going south. After maybe a week or two you will notice this big land mass on your left side , that’s gone be what they call Australia. Keep going south until the end of Australia then take a hard turn left and bring your compass to the E , that will put you east. From there keep going east for 4 or 5 weeks, more or less depending on the weather. Then your next clue is gone be penguins. If you’re heading for California as soon as you see that first penguin take a hard left and bring that compass to N . If you’re looking for New York wait until you see thousands of penguins and then take the hard left .
From there on you ask for directions on your VHF .
Have a nice journey.

Re: Delivery trip Singapore to America

To start the thinking, you'd want the SW monsoon out of Singapore, which starts in July, head north east along the North coast of Borneo, through the Philippines, on to Japan, and skirt the North Pacific According to Jimmy Cornell's stated route in World Cruising Routes.

The problem with this is the Philippine typhoon season starts in July, so that's a no go, unless you're on a fast vessel capable of more the 12 knots day after day.

Therefore consider leaving Singapore early May, with less favourable winds (or no winds) to start, but lessening the typhoon risk.

It's a trip.

So sad, one moment of inattention, and your reputation on the forum is shot to hell!

The wife checked her husband's cell phone and found these names in the contact list:

#1 The Tender One
#2 The Amazing One
#3 Lady of My Dreams

She got angry and called the first number, only to discover that was his Mother

Then she called the second number on which his Sister replied.

When she dialled the third number her own phone rang !!!

She cried until her eyes got swollen because she had doubted her innocent husband.

So she gave him her whole month's salary to make up for it.

Husband took the money and bought a gift for his mistress whose name and number were saved as: “Emergency Auto Repair”
