RIsing Seas /Global Warming

There are many positive aspects of Global Warming //Rising Seas for the "cruising /sailing" community. 1. We will not run aground as often. 2.Food and will be cheaper as all the coastal cities will be somewhat depopulated and--- 3. There will be far more acres to farm as places up north will be warmer and more rain so we will have a bonanza in food and it will be cheaper because more of it and fewer people because they got swamped. 4.Chinas low wage factories were flooded. 5. The internet got flooded out and shut down so people had to rely on their neighbors and became friends again so wars stopped.6. There are far more cruising areas because low land is flooded. SEEEEEEEE--------- Im 83 and sold my trawler and bought a Gemini Catamaran!!!!!Yipppeee. Now I need a tough lady matey!! LOLOLOL

Trusting that the OP was an attempt at humour, I would, nevertheless, point out that cruisers will continue to run aground - just in different locations.

Surely the last one around will find the top of Mt. Everest.

Didn't someone run aground on Mt Ararat?

Which reminds me:
Q: Who was the richest person in the Bible?
A: Noah. He floated his stock while the world was in liquidation.

Good luck plowing the Canadian Shield.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canadian_Shield

Quote:
The current surface expression of the Shield is one of very thin soil lying on top of the bedrock, with many bare outcrops. This arrangement was caused by severe glaciation during the ice age, which covered the Shield and scraped the rock clean.

The lowlands of the Canadian Shield have a very dense soil that is not suitable for forestation; it also contains many marshes and bogs (muskegs). The rest of the region has coarse soil that does not retain moisture well and is frozen with permafrost throughout the year.

I saw Al Gore talking about rising sea levels the other day ...
He really needs to come to terms with losing Florida.

Not only Florida but much of the east coast of the US. The boat show">Annapolis boat show was pretty much flooded this year and that is apparently a frequent recurring event in the area.

Re: RIsing Seas /Global Warming

Food will be a lot more expensive, but on the other hand there will be a lot less people.
I bet people run aground more since there probably won’t be as much dredging or updates to charts.

Re: RIsing Seas /Global Warming

It’s not climate change that will get us first but depleted water and soil, anti-biotic resistance, and unstable global financial system.

Lay it to that crazy idea that infinite growth is sustainable. But maybe that’s a good business model, selling perpetual motion machines to economist.

Dream On.
According to NASA the rise in Ocean level measured by satellite is precisely ZERO.
Trust not Warmist or Coolist propaganda. All are chasing research $s.
Only trust scientific reports you can verify or from a known and trusted neutral source.

Re: RIsing Seas /Global Warming

There has been more than a 200 plus foot rise in Sea Level over the last 12,000 years, most of it soon after the end of the last ice age. The earth was in a several thousand year slide into another ice age till the warming that has occurred in the last 100 years. Sea levels were decreasing and could have gone back to the ice age lows that would have seriously restricted where you could go in a boat. Would have been great for hikers like the ones that crossed the Aleutian Land Bridge and settled the Americas.

Of course you probably would have a hard time making a living under 5,000' of ice if you lived north of the Mason-Dixon line to generate the money to buy a boat. The Greta's of the world seem to think that Global Warming is a disaster happening. Global cooling would/will be way worse. The earth has been going through cycles of relatively long term cooling with short term warming for hundreds of thousands of years and we're more than a 1,000 years into what should have been a cooling cycle. Personally I like it warmer.

Us Floridians are in favor of warming. It’s supposed to down into the 50s tomorrow and we don’t like that. That plus NJ is far more prone to flooding than is Florida and no one likes NJ
