Im looking to buy a sailboat soon in the caribbean, and want to ask about insurances.
How much can cost insurance for a 35f monohull 1980?
Planing on starting in east carib. 🤙🏾

So many variables, it is impossible to give a good number. For example, are you keeping the boat in the Caribean in hurricane season? Fixed location? Moving around? What flag will the vessel carry? Your nationality?

Most 1980 boats of that size are going to be at a price point (US$40k to 50k, tops) that hull insurance might not make good sense. But for round numbers....

For more expensive (>$150K) boats you can expect to pay something like 3 or 4% of the hull value for full coverage. On boats that are cheaper, that number rises because there are fixed costs of administering the policy that stay the same no matter the hull value.
