Re: NEED A TOW ASAP

Couple of feelings.
First I have a pretty good impression he knows what he is doing mechanic wise, pointers don't hurt of course, but I think he has it well in hand.
Second, I get the impression that at one time this boat was an actual cruising boat, alternator, double belts and a few other things in the pictures give me that impression.
I bet they will put a lot of sweat equity in it, but will end up with a good ole boat.

Not that it matters, but are they a "young" couple? Helps if they are of course, I was a lot more capable of extended hard work than I am now.

From the picture on the crowdfunding site, they look very young.

Have good credit and or put up something else for collateral. In my case USAA gave the best interest, did the loan over the phone, and I don't think they cared it was for a boat.
Not to sound too crass, but if you don't "need" a loan, they are easy to get.
I bought an old boat, and didn't want to find myself cash poor if it needed a new engine or something else major. Maybe they did something similar?

Exactly . We saved for what we needed. Extra parts. Fix ups. Travel to and from Lauderdale. And such. But that's pretty much it.

Re: NEED A TOW ASAP

If the boat is 300 miles from home and you have to go home each week to your job, it might bake better sense to (Heaven forbid) pay a pro to fix the engine.

Do the math.

Its only 6 hours each way, no way does that pay for a "Pro" in parenthesis cause more often than not I have found that at least on engine work, I'm better than most Pro's.
We spent months driving as much as 800 miles on wekends I think looking for a boat. flying didn't work except on a few occasions cause we were bouncing from one place to another to look at boats.
They are doing the right thing, and it is just the beginning.
Most of my weekends are spent working on the boat, preparing it for us to leave, not much time spent sailing around anymore. For Christmas I tore out all the black water plumbing and replaced it along with a new wast tank and installed a macerator to empty it along with a 1" vent, the list was endless, but there is light now.

If they are preparing to cruise, I expect they have a couple years worth of weekend work to get her ready. But then they will know it inside out.

He would be correct if my husband wasn't a diesel mechanic. He knows how to fix everything, but We didn't anticipate having to pay dockage and everything else that is wrong. The thing is too, we only have a short amount of time on the private dock she in right now. But thanks guys. All is helpful trust me. [emoji4]

I thought I could tell form the pictures that is had been disassembled logically and correctly, didn't look like a first timer.
