It’s happening tomorrow morning so that’s out.

Plus, my FDOT permit is for the setup I have, don’t need an escort, no CDL.

I do have the required flags and visibility markers and stuff. Working lights, FDOT permit, etc.

I think everything is in order

Two options for the mast attachment.

1) A standard trailer tongue will be somehow lashed onto the mast using the cleats and 2:1 purchase to hold it tight.

If that doesn’t work...

2). An X pattern in the bed using straps and shackling the mast to the center of the X, just like Atoll did.

I hope not. I don't think your adventure is inherently ill-advised. You'll just have to be sure the mast is secure, both at the truck and dolly. Lashing, and spring lines fore and aft, basically, in both cases.

Yes, that’s the plan. I have enough ratchet straps and quality cordage from the boat I could stretch it from here to the mast and just play tug of war to pull it here.

I think what’s going to get it on qualified captain is that it’s a boat ramp oddity.

My plan is to distract anyone filming by asking them to lend a hand. Ha ha.

Take enough people or get help near location.
Rent a long flatbed trailer and build a cradle/supports onto it.
Put the mast up on the supports such that it overhangs your tow vehicle, this will reduce overall length.

I haven't read all the posts, but I assume you have asked riggers if they have a trailer you could rent?

Re: Mast moving ideas?

Done.

79’ LOA down I75 in Florida.

But the small turns through the towns were the real killers. Never drove a trailer this long before.

My trailer worked perfectly, a couple guys moved it from the boat to my trailer (me and the seller and his friend who was much older with a heart condition ).

Cops passed me by. I went through a weigh station area.

Frankly, I have no idea why everyone doesn’t do this.

Another area where fear seems to prevent people from getting things done. There was no reason to fear this AT ALL, but a lot of people did. Even vicariously.

Looks MUCH longer than this pic in real life.

Used the X in the bed because I couldn’t find a good way to attach it to the hitch.

My little tiny trailer did great.

Re: Mast moving ideas?

For perspective, the boom sitting on top of the mast on the trailer is 22ft long

Awesome! 1 big step closer to getting all of the major systems in place and functional.

Huge step.

In the back of anyone’s mind building a boat forever is the nagging thought of “why don’t I just make it a trawler?”

It’s much easier and cheaper.

I guess that little thought is now put to rest. Ha ha

Hmm... That gives me an idea Mast is only 9 feet longer than the boat, right? Have you given any thought to building in a way to carry the mast on deck easily in case you want to take the boat somewhere with low vertical clearance at some point? I'd expect that to be a lot less inconvenient if you had some sort of built in or easily attachable mast holders.

We definitely do plan to go inland sometimes.

My dream was a mast I could drop and raise on the boat. Sort of like a tabernacle. This bridge height requirement is awful.

I’m just facing so many projects that this will have to remain a fantasy until it’s done.

But should be quite easy to carry this on deck. Deck is basically flat fore and aft, can tie off to the dagger board that will be at about the middle of the mast and then just secure mast at bow cleat and stern cleat.

I’ll have to hire a crane for that, so it’ll be once in a while when we know we want to go inland for a long time.
