Marina/mooring options in the Monterey area?

Ryan, there is another possible option, Elkhorn Yacht Club if you want pay your dues. My good friend was going to school at Santa Cruz and berthed his boat there long time ago, so my information is dated. It was a great old time club, salty with a lot of folks who really cared about sailing and the sea. We came in after being beating up through a full gale and they were absolutely the best. You would have to work your way into it though, it is a club. Check it out when you are looking at Moss Landing.

Compared to the east coast, California has a lot of population relative to the number of ports/slips. Monterey is a nice area and it's close enough to the San Fran metro area to make it a viable place to spend weekends on the boat. It's also viable for those living in the valley.
