Well I don't know any of you, but reading so many posts it feels like there are those who will understand my excitement.
I just purchased a new to me
boat, after 4 years of no sailboat. I have been looking for something to sail for 10 months or so. Something inexpensive and small for overnighting 2-3. What I ended up with was so much more than I expected. After 9 months of Craigslist I found a
boat that caught my eye, but was out of my
budget. A 1973
Irwin 37
Cutter estate
sale. They knew little about the boat, none of the
electrical seemed to
work but the
perkins 4-108 had been rebuilt in 2010 with less than a hundred hours on it. They were asking $14k which seemed reasonable but was was out of my
budget. My wonderful wife knew how much I wanted this boat and made a ridiculous offer on it and they accepted! After getting into the boat he must have been mid
electrical project because he had disconnected the positive distribution busses from the
battery switch. I added some
power back in and viola!
radar,
radio water pump lighting all works. Before I wire things back up I intend to make sure I don't have any shorts or draws in the systems. I have found a great marina on the union slough with great neighbors who seem to materialize to help with lines when ever I am coming back to
dock. Thanks to all on this site as I have been lurking enjoying all of the information and varied personalities
I would love to talk to any other
Irwin 37 owners as I would love to learn anything I can the easy way.
I am located in Everett
Washington. looking forward to more sailing and outfitting for cruising.
Cheers,
Jeremy
Did I mention I was looking for something trailerable?
