Are command strips safe on varnish?

What's the best way to hang art without damaging interior woodwork? Are command strips safe to use on varnished wood? Is there something better out there?

I use command strips and as long as your varnish is in good condition it should be fine.

We just recently tried this. The projects themselves needed to be changed, so they were not in place long - a week or two. No damage nor residue on removal.

Works fine after a few year's experience on good quality PU (depends on what you mean by "varnish"). We use the Velcro ones for light things so that we can move and clean, change clock batteries, etc.
