Vieux Fort Harbor, St. Lucia

planning on flying out of St Lucia - hewanoor airport next March and thinking about leaving the boat for a week in the harbor or port facilities in Vieux Fort. I am not sure if there is a marina there, as there is further north in Rodney Bay.

Anyone ever visit this area or can recommend a good place to 'park' the boat and get to the airport relatively easily? Rodney Bay looks good but it's a long way to the airport.

We spent a few weeks in St. Lucia last season. I would leave the boat in Rodney Bay or in Marigot but not Vieux Fort (too exposed if the wind shifts). And I would try to get someone to watch it for me. The taxi to Hewanora from Rodney Bay is $80 but you can usually share it with someone if you go on the Rodney Bay morning cruisers net and put out the word or listen for someone else who is going. There arent that many international flights so usually everyone wants to get there at about the same time.

The harbor there is for fishermen, plus there've been reports of thefts from boats anchored in the (very exposed) harbor. I agree with sck5--Rodney Bay or Marigot is the way to go.
