Hauling her for the season

We were in Sint Maarten the week of the Heineken Regatta, the first week of March. When we left the boat, we had heard about the virus but it hadn't exploded yet and nothing was locked down. We got out in the nick of time, ever since we left, Sint Maarten and St Martin have been completely locked down with no cross border travel. The airport is closed and I couldn't get in even IF I wanted to spend 6+ hours on planes to get there. Word is if you clear out,you can't clear back in ANYWHERE until you get back to the US. St Barts and Antigua and both closed. We were planning on hauling in Sint Maarten this year and have a reservation at a yard already set up. Since I can't get back down, I have asked the guy who looks after Callisto when I am not on the island to oversee hauling and stripping her for the hurricane season. I HATE to leave that job to anyone but me to oversee but I can't get back, don't really want to fly there so I figure, I may as well go ahead and call this season closed and put the boat up on the hard. Really sad!

Re: Hauling her for the season

Yes, I agree, and it is sad, but sadder still for the ones who have lost families. I'm thinking your person who will look after your boat for you may have others to look after, as well, and with the hurricanes already starting up, you'll want to inform them soon. Maybe a bonus for a picture showing the boat stripped and on the hard?

Good luck with it.

Ann
