Re: Two sailboats on the beach Outer Banks

Another recent sailboat on the beach in the north Florida area. A case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time.
This boat has since been washed up beyond the high tide line due to strong nor-easter winds and refloating it is unlikely and is now a salvage project.

Re: Two sailboats on the beach Outer Banks

There is an anchorage behind Cape Bowling Green on the east coast of Australia which occasionally catches people because the NS coast coming from the south turns westerly whilst the offlying shoals continue to the north.

Re: Two sailboats on the beach Outer Banks

The difference between purgatory and paradise can all come down to the choice of yacht at times.
We love our ability to transverse the skinniest of waters, cross breaking bars and hide dried out in remote tidal locations inside fringing reefs. We accept our yacht isn’t for crossing oceans but it can cross continents.
Whilst the weather looks perfect in this photo it had actually been blowing over 30 knots and the yachts and powerboats moored outside the fringing reef in the lee of the island to shelter from the high winds had taken a pounding from the bullet like gusts and reflected swell.

A quote from that article...

Rehberg told News4JAX that he intends to take care of the matter and expressed frustration with the FWC because they haven’t removed the boat.

Wow!

yeah there’s a warrant out for that guys arrest now. I have been noticing this story as well. Didn’t want to get to posting anything about it lest I’d be accused of “flaming” the guy.
