Possibly buy a upmarket expensive beer - they might not like it but they can't accuse you of being a cheapskate.

But really, these guys are boatmen and they will drink anything that crosses their gunwales...

Yeah, but if did that I’d only prove their point that rich boat toffs can’t sail.

Come to think of it....

Very astute point - never thought of that aspect. Life is full of tough choices .

Mind you, they have to deal with some strange folk. I recall listening in on a VMR 'rescue' in Perth WA one Sunday.

The guys idiots were out fishing and mid afternoon they were ready to head back to the boat ramp when they realised they were out of sight of the land and needed to be 'rescued.

VMR asked for their location and they had no idea except to say they had left the ramp in the morning so they must be somewhere off Perth. VMR establish they were OK, had fuel and just needed guidance back the ramp. VMR advised they head due east until they sight the coast and then call again.

An hour or so goes by and still no sight of the coast. Another hour and again no land in sight but they are now getting low of fuel. Also getting late in the afternoon and now for the give away - their radio signal strength is reducing rapidly. VMR asked if they could see the sun - 'Yep', they replied 'and it was making life hard since it was getting in their eyes making it hard to see if there was land or not'.

VMR now suggests they turn around immediately and keep the sun on the back of their heads and motor slowly maintaining that direction. About this time of the day, the on-shore sea breeze kicks in and they report the wind is pushing them along just nicely.

They made it back to the ramp and the VMR guys check the compass of the boat - yep, works fine.

That’s rich coming from a Victorian, where the local brew is often referred to as “v*****l backwash” (hashed as ladies are present).

Next you’ll be saying Bundy’s a good rum😂

There are a lot of good beers in Vic, Especially amongst the Mini Brewers which are every where now,

We also have very good cheap Plonk, Red and white that is exported world wide,
Grown locally here in Vic,

Its a wonder you didnt mention Fosters, No one drinks that here either, along with VB,

Bundy is an alternative to Qld beer, That or be a Teetotaler, hhahaha

As an ex-Victorian I still get a bit of a giggle when hearing about Victorian wine and beer.

Actually, one of the best things about Victorian brewing is that if you insist on buying the local product you are very unlikely to become an alcoholic.

Can’t say the same for South Australia or Western Australia.

Actually, I think I saw one of the crew holding a stubbie in one photo. Can’t find it now to find out which beer he was holding.

Probably wasn’t VB, if it was the police boat would have cut the tow line.

Shhhh! Don't tell him. It's a little trick we use to keep the Victorians out of the state.
