Mummery 40 Offshore Cruiser

For Sale in Malaysia at US$ 26000
Per Ardua is a strong, proven and capable offshore cruiser cruised by a family of 5 from New Zealand through the Pacific and Indonesia to Malaysia. She is now on the hard in Penang, Malaysia where we are living. Per Ardua is a very comfortable sea going yacht. Her ferro hull is in as new condition and as the hull has been stripped full inspection is easy. Her clever design combines the strength of steel keel, rudder and skeg sections with a light weight and practical timber deck. The ferro hull provides insulation from heat, cold and sound making for a comfortable living environment. Per Ardua has a long list of equipment that has been replaced recently. Her rigging was replaced in 2013 and a new mainsail and furling genoa were built by Willis sails in New Zealand in 2014. A Raymarine VHF and ICOM SSB and GME chartplotter date from 2013. Pressurised water and a gas water heater provide hot showers and hot water to the galley. The engine is a diesel 4 cylinder 38hp Nanni which provides quiet and economical motoring. This was installed in 2011 and is in excellent condition. Self steering is achieved through the Fleming windvane or when the wind is down a Raymarine tiller pilot which drives the windvane servo reducing power consumption and wear on the pilot.

Howdy!
Nice looking boat (and kids too).

Per the Forum rules, you must indicate the Asking Price.
I did not see that mentioned.
You can notify the Moderators using the tiny triangle icon at the bottom left of your post. Ask them to insert the Asking Price into your top post. Or add it in a comment below.

Also, listing the upgrades and details of newer gear may help others see more value.

Fair Winds!

Re: Mummery 40 Offshore Cruiser

I now see an asking price. Good.

A few more friendly suggestions:
You can add more photos in comments below your original post (after the original post times out).

I suggest adding more that show:

1. closeup photos of the newer gear, especially if you have solar/wind, windlass, etc.

2. More brightly lit photos of the interior living and sleeping spaces and berths.

3. A hull profile (photo or drawing) and layout (drawing).

_______

Since your boat has a hard dodger, I invite you to post a closer photo(s) of it or description of it and side view, in the following discussion thread which is focused on Boats with Hard Dodgers. You could also post a link to your boat thread too, just don't post all of the sale info.

Hope these tips help you. Enjoy the forum too.

Per Ardua's Hull. No osmosis worries, no rust worries, no rot worries in fact NO WORRIES. This ferro hull is 40 years old and in mint condition. It will outlast most of use with very little maintenance. What's not to love?

Re: Mummery 40 Offshore Cruiser

We have New Zealand charts on the chart plotter.
Used Open Cpn and Navionics offshore so the chart plotter became reduced to a cockpit GPS, Log and Electronic Compass although I did put way points into it for the trickier passages when I didn't want to go down to the computer.
House bank is 2 x 6V deep cycle marine giving 230 Amp Hours (in theory :-)) at 12V. separate starter battery. In purpose made box above the waterline.
3 solar panels giving about 180 Watts with regularator. Aerogen wind generator. 100 Amp Alternator.

Re: Mummery 40 Offshore Cruiser

That's a lot of boat for the money. A few questions pop to mind:

-- What's her draft?

-- Any projects need to be done before she can cruise again? (Looks like a repaint or at least a bottom job is needed?)

-- What are the sleeping accommodations? I can't tell if it's just the forepeak plus the settees in the salon, or if there is more. . . .

Re: Mummery 40 Offshore Cruiser

Hi Cormorant,
Per Ardua draws 5 foot 6 inches. About 1.7m.
A lot of boat ......
Sadly for sellers that's the game with Ferro. For buyers its about getting a good one.
Projects,
I've deliberately left her bare for inspection by a buyer as I was concerned about the ferro when buying. Its mint and has been trouble free. I am going to paint her soon and take her up to Langkawi if she doesn't sell - about 70 miles North of here - as more boats are selling there than in Penang.
The batteries are probably getting tired and the refurbished bimini needs installing. Other than that no majors.
There is a small double aft to port and a single to starboard, so 5 dedicated berths and 7 in total. I will attach a layout diagram and post some more photos.
