30' Yankee sloop 1970

Endearing Olin Stevens design, fiberglass sloop in exceptional, immaculate condition. Encapsulated lead keel, skeg rudder, tiller steering. Same highly experienced owner of 35 years has lovingly, continuously and intelligently upgraded with an open checkbook.

Fast, safe and comfortable on all sailing points. Easily single-handed. Its classic proportions draw attention wherever it goes.

Lovely, open, bright galley aft with huge convertible dinette forward, to port, and convertible settee to starboard. Forward of that is head to port and storage opposite. Then V-berth forward. Very large self-bailing cockpit with huge lazarette storage P&S.

Located in Marina del Rey, Ca.

Re: 30' Yankee sloop 1970

Looks like a great boat for someone, but my Y-30, hull 123 had a non-encapsulated lead keel. Are you sure that yours isn't a bolt-on?

Hiya Jim. It is bolted on, but I believe it is also glassed over, This is a Mark I.

Well, the two Mk Is that I raced against had bare lead bolt on keels, just like my MK III. Any "glassing over" would be aftermarket and not structural or what is normally considered "encapsulated".

Still is a prime example of a great design... someone will get a very nice boat that will sail on into the future.

Jim

Thanks fellas. She really is an exceptional vessel. The care and love she has received makes her very special.

I am attaching a photo showing the detail of the new hatch I installed in the salon. The trim frame joints are as tight as the day I built it.

I lined the entire stove area with stainless steel sheet. The white Formica'd piece (stored under the stove in the photo) covers the stove for extra counter space. The stove's gimbals fit through the slots.

Here's the stove cover in place.

Edit: Perhaps someone could advise me why the site's software is turning the images on their side.
