pirate Beginner sail cruiser

SIZE="2"][/SIZE]

Hello and good day to all you cruisers out there!!

I am intending a trip around the "Great Loop" with my 27' sailboat in three years time. I'll be leaving from Georgian Bay and heading south via Chicago, on to Mobile, then on to Destin Fla. to visit with family for a month or so. Then continue thru Fla. and up the eastern seaboard and back to Georgian bay.

I am in need of information, suggestions, recommendations, legal stuff and such as to being out of Canada for an extended period of time, insurance requirements for ship and crew (solo), border requirments, etc.

I have only sailed inland lakes for the past 10 years both racers and cruisers and am now looking forward to the experience of cruising other areas. Cruising the "Bay" is a blast !! but now it is time to visit new places and people I've only seen on Youtube. Ha!

Any help and advice you wish to share with me would be very much awsome and appreciated. Thanks !!

Fair winds and calm seas

Re: Beginner sail cruiser

sailguy27, here is a an older blog that I recently read that also makes wants me to do the Loop. Lots of good information there... https://katieandjessieonaboat.com/ (Just wish I could do it with two lovely ladies like this! ;-). There is also lots of good info on the various routes. Just Google it. I would imagine that unstepping the mast (cringe) not once, but twice, would not leave me in a a happy mood (I hate restrictions but can't afford a bluewater boat). So.....Good luck to you!
