That's kind of my feeling too. It just seems so strange that we got so hot so early in the season. That upper level
wind shear has stayed to strong for so long and that that sierra dust has put a damper in things.

I would think that even if the
water temp is setting records its being tempered by land setting heat records. Do you think that
wind shear is being created by the very warm land? If so, what happens when you end up in a situation where you have a very warm
water mass and the wind shear slows because the earth cools down - e.g.
winter approaching.
