Question Mase 4.0 Generator: stator and coil replacement.

I'm making good progress on changing a bad stator (and doing the coil since I'm in there)...

I've hit a bit of a snag.

I know it's probably a long shot here... but... I have two questions.

1. how I can't get the stator to come out. I was told that the intercooler (normally is in the area above the stator in the picture (See attachment, file: stator, picture #1)) could be left in place... however, I don't see how that's possible.

2. how do I stop the coil from spinning to loosen the bolt (If I turn the bolt, the coil just spins). (See attachment, file: nut, picture #1). I was told that the compression in the motor should prevent it from moving, however - the coil spins very well. The "decompressor" arm is UP, (normally you flip it down to make it so you can test that the coil isn't going to hit the stator, etc.)... but it's up so there should be a lot of resistance. Which I'm not getting. Thoughts?

Many Thanks,
Pete

Re: Mase 4.0 Generator: stator and coil replacement.

Got the stator off.
Got the bolt off.

The rod that runs through the middle of the coil will not come out...

There are a zillion videos on how to get the rotor out of the crank... but there are zero videos on how to get a seized rod out.... Ugh.

Press it or pound it. Start with penetrant oil over night. Then stand it on a soft pine board that has a hole in it for the rod to go through. Use a copper or brass hammer, so the dents are in the hammer, not the rod. Tap it through with a brass rod or a dowel. The goal is to free the rod while not damaging the coil.

Did this thing go under water? Kinda odd to have that part seized.

The coil is in place and stuck. I've been PB Blaster-ing it...

Some of what you say, I'm not certain can be done. Don't care about damaging it, since I'm replacing it.

It wasn't under water, but the stator got burnt and this isn't in the best case either (it wasn't as burnt as it is in the pic, that's after I tried to apply heat to expand)...
