HELP on MASE 4.4 Generator

Have a Mase 4.4 (I think) with yanmar 1 cylinder diesel. It runs and then stops unpredictably . Flashes the "E-1" which means low oil pressure. Factory reps in Miami says to change oil filter--which is a little gizmo built into the oil drain plug!! I have changed it a dozen times -its always clean! Anyone know a fix for this crap???? I was thinking to punch some small holes in the filter element to let more oil thru. HELP!!!

Re: HELP on MASE 4.4 Generator

Well the first step would seem to be measure the oil pressure to see if it really is low. To do that you need an oil pressure gauge and a way to connect it to where the oil pressure switch measures oil pressure. The oil pressure switch grounds a wire to the motor when the oil pressure is low. That shuts down the engine.

Is the oil level low? That can cause low oil pressure.

+1!!

Measure the pressure with a gauge on a “T” with the low pressure switch. If the gauge indicates good pressure, replace the “likely” faulty switch.
