+1 on the switches for power going to the multipluses.
One other item I added is a pre-charge resister to the multiplus. Even when they are off there is a pretty good zap as the resisters charge when first connected. There are comments on the victron community pages about this. I just have a little box with a resister wired to a momentary switch to pre-charge, hold the button for a few seconds then no more pop when I throw the power switch.
Interesting idea on the emergency 12v take off, I may have to copy that.
Cheers,
ted
When I connect the circuit with 4/0 cables by putting in the fuse, I feel the spark coming and still flinch when it does, but with a switch that is beefy enough not to be bothered by it, I feel okay without resistor. The input capacitors are capable of handling the inrush current.
I believe they use the resistor to drain the charge from the capacitors after disconnecting?

Since they are DC motors, can you run the 12v motors on 24v without swapping them out?
In college they bothered me with motors and generators during my first year, then I was happy to see that dropped for the rest of my electronics education In other words: I have no clue but as they sell both kinds, I'll just replace it.

Thanks to your request, I did click on the thumbnail, even the hi res one, and even with using View Image and +, I simply can't read the SMALL PRINT!!!

So, in your updates, you might consider using LARGER fonts. The presentation, otherwise, is superb.
It is the forum software messing with it. The original JPG which I upload is tack sharp when I zoom in. I'll see what I can do, I can probably host it on my website and then link to it here.

Re: Finalizing s/v Jedi DC diagram

The second diagram is better, but it seems to have gained a AC to 12v battery charger. You you really need that? you have the generator, engine, solar and Victron multiplus feeding the 12v batteries.

Yes, I've read about people using resisters for both for inrush and draining before working on them. I've got the HD Blue Sea battery switches and if I don't pre-charge there is still an arc with a flash of light behind the switch which seems less than ideal to me. I think I spent 8 bucks on 2 resisters, so I've got on in a box and a second with alligator clips to discharge should I need to do that.

Just for reference here's one link I referred to:
https://community.victronenergy.com/...t-on-init.html

cheers,
ted

Yes, it's just that I have it. I test it every couple of years and that's about it. But it once saved me a lot of trouble so I'll just leave it where it is

That said, here's yet another updated diagram. Added the service switches on the Multiplus units, changed fuses and added all the values for fuses and breakers.

p.s. after upload the jpg is only half the size...

Interested in preparing some similar schematics. What software did you use?

I used the LucidChart browser app.

Re: Finalizing s/v Jedi DC diagram

Here is another update, v1.2 The change is that remote battery switches have been added to the windlass and all four electric winches. This adds substantial cost but after a couple of winch incidents (kept on turning or started turning by itself) we decided to do this anyway.

We did not have a windlass incident yet but did hear of boats lost after the windlass took the anchor up by itself and the boat took off.

Did you import your own Victron Energy and other images, or are they in the app?

Just used the Mac “capture” tool from product web page, then import. Works good. If I re-use the same image, you can use copy, paste and duplicate tools.

Re: Finalizing s/v Jedi DC diagram

v1.3 is out.

Here we have been changing lots of components based on actual physical installation on board, number of components, price, personal preference as well as from safety standpoint. Example: push-to-reset breakers on the bilge pumps instead of a blade or glass fuse, but a regular busbar mounted fuse instead of thermal fuse for the electric winches.

Also, we're back to the good old Multiplus instead of Multiplus II. More about that with the next update for the AC power diagram.

Re: Finalizing s/v Jedi DC diagram

Just for your considerartion: KEEP IT SIMPLE!!!

I will install a 80 - 280VAC to 14,4 VDC power supply unit that feeds my 200A A2B charger.

That will reduce my (and all others) charging mess by one unit.

What is an A2B charger? Also, what happens when that power supply fails?
