Anyone see any issues with this combination ? Lagoon 450 F
We looked hard at the Center console version of the CL, which has this FCT console, but decided against it. Weight on davits, and space for goods /dive gear in dinghy being main reasons against.
Electric start motor was a 'must have' to ensure my wife can start it and be independent in the "car".

HI,
Three things,
1) 20 hp may be a bit light for a 360. We have the 350 with the Suzuki 20 and wish it was the 30... You can get it up to speed with the 20, but will likely be at full throttle
2) I found that the 350 barely fits between the hulls, would think a 360 would be close to touching.
3) Make sure the lift points in the dinghy align with the davits or your lift lines will chafe.

Re: Tender weight?
HI,
Here are some pics of our dinghy in the davits.... We had to change the geometry of the lift points to align with the davits as the chafe was extreme... And we use straps to control the swinging, along with crossed lines under the dinghy to the aft cleats and two more lines to the stern cleats... You can see how tight a fit the 350 is....

450 Next to us at present has the 360. seems to fit just fine. Will double check though.
The CL comes in 340 or 360 I think. Only the OM is a 350 ?
Thanks for the tips !

Re: Tender weight?
I have just bought a Highfield CL360 with Yamaha 25hp plus the FCL console.
From weight perspective it is fine on standard davits. I have a manual winch which helps a lot. Damn heavy!!
In terms of space there is quite a lot of room behind the seat. Probably get 4 tanks in there but you would be very stern heavy.

Do you think the CL 380 would fit? 6 inches longer. We will be 7 people normally so I need every inch available.
Also from what I understand Highfield is just now releasing a revised transom to accommodate a Yamaha long shaft with the power tilt and power trim options as opposed to the short shaft which only has 1 of those options. According to my dealer who seems on the ball. I do like that side console for a measly $1000 US.

Tender weight?
Keep in mind that you wont always be recovering your dinghy in calm flat waters. There will be many times you'll have a good chop out there and the dinghy will bash against the hulls ie gel coat scrapes, chips, worse, as you start recovering it. The longer your dinghy the more difficult it becomes and damage likely to occur. Our is the OM350 and we have plenty of niks!

Absolutely correct.... We have the OM350 and have had a few incidents where it was too dangerous to launch it.
Also for the FCT, make sure your lift points are at or above the centre of gravity as the dinghy will try to flip on you.

Re: Tender weight?
One way to get heavy load performance from a smaller outboard is to install a finer pitch propeller. This will accelerate the boat faster but drop top end speed down a little bit at WOT. A foil helps a lot too. Only need to watch WOT when lightly loaded or install a tachometer.

Do you still have your OM350 Rick?
What speed did it do with a 20?
Long or short shaft?
