Re: Just signed on a new 450s!

The fittings and hose were for a satush (arse shower) install. I teed into the cold feed for the master basin and fitted it in the cabinet opposite the toilet. Very easy and perfect. Also very COLD in the winter but I’m hard as nails. [emoji6]

I filter our marina water before it comes into the boat. 2 stage, sediment and charcoal and that’s all made out of garden hose and garden fittings.

FYI. The ID of the water hose in the bathrooms is 15mm. I got lucky and picked up a whole shopping bag of fittings in a boat jumble for €30 so I’m covered for loads of future jobs.

Re: Just signed on a new 450s!

Thanks Dave!

But .. shoot, another important project. Not sure i see how you installed this. Would you mind providing more details (but not on the use case )

So no filtering or more purifying for drinking from the tank, really?

cheers

Fiddles installed. A very ‘fiddly’ job indeed. The main issue is avoiding the cabinetry under the worktop and being able to get a nut on the thread. Little hands may come in handy and a few “F”’s thrown at it helped.

Re: Just signed on a new 450s!

Ha, liked the Sattush idea. We settled for one of those toilet seats with built in arse sprayer. It heats the water up too. No need to be hard as nails for that one. They're a Japanese thing I think. Also has a fan and heater built in for the drying afterwards. Required a cold water and electrical connection. Pure comfort. The seat can be heated in winter too. And there's a little light in it for those romantic sessions.....

Dave, what was the agent that did warranty service for you in Almerimar. Our agent told us to go to Torrevieja for warranty issues, but the dealer there (Kat Marina) doesn't have a service person. We're floating by Almerimar next week if that Easterly subsides somewhat.

Your homemade pot holders on the gas hob are nice, in style with the Lagoon fittings. Looks better than the standard hob with those fiddly things that melt anyway.

Thanks Bez,

Kat did all the warranty work for us. Their guy Kevin does it all and he's great, happily recommend him.

Re: Just signed on a new 450s!

Hi davedindubai,

We just purchased a 2016 450S (hull no. 9) here in San Francisco and moved aboard 2 months ago. Getting ready for extended cruising South and then East. Our boat is pretty much set up from the factory with the same options you have. Here is my feedback:

- Our boat did not come with the washer/dryer so we have just completed our own install. I will share thoughts and pictures on the Lagoon Facebook forum which you should join. There is a lot of good information and active owner participation there. The factory install washer location in the Port forward cabin is poor as you cannot get the unit out when it needs to be replaced. Look for my photos and input on this on Facebook.

- Our key planned or in progress after purchase projects on the factory equipped boat (ours had no improvements beyond what was done by the factory) are as follows:
Washer/Dyer install
Water maker (researching)
Yanmar NEMA 2000 interfaces on the engines (this is no brainer)
Dinghy/Outboard with outboard engine crane and engine mount
Improved ground tackle with stern anchor setup (researching)
Gangway purchase and installation (in process)
NEMA 2000 wi-fi gatway
Replaced mainsail reefing lines with improved leads
Code 0 and Asymmetric purchase and install including Code 0 furler and all lines (researching)
Switched all heads to freshwater flush
Holding tank level gauges (researching)
Re-configuring the main salon seating and table (researching) - comment here, the factory set up is just not comfortable for anything but eating. For lounging around it sucks. So we are looking to make changes here and we will post what we decide to do on Facebook.
MOB equipment (in process)
Satellite radio/weather and communications (in process)
Cellular internet with antenna extender
BBQ install
Solar (researching)
Lithium batteries (researching)
New BMS
New inverter/charger
Foredeck awning
Considering switching to electronic engine controls (researching)

These are the key project we have planned off the top of my head. There are numerous other smaller projects that we are doing such as some electrical work to place additional outlets and so on. Overall, we are really happy with the boat. It has been extremely comfortable for us, we have not missed our land based home at all and looking forward to our cruising adventures.

Gary

Re: Just signed on a new 450s!

Congrats on the boat purchase!
I'm sure you'll love her as much as we do. We've lived aboard for 2 years now, sailed Western Med, crossed the pond, up the Caribbean to Miami, back across the pond and are now in Greece.

We've done many of your upgrades and more and all the details are spread out quite thinly unfortunately across our social media. All our travels are on our YouTube channel but it's only up to the Bahamas so far, there's nice pics on our insta, loads of info here and I contribute to the facebook group when I can.

I've got the NMEA stuff all ready to go but need to cross it off my list. Maybe I'll make it my next job for you and post it here or you'll have to wait a year to see it on the tube. This might just be the kick up the arse I need as I did all the research last year and have had the parts sitting in a box on the boat since Christmas!

Dave

Re: Just signed on a new 450s!

Dave, I vote for the cruisersforum Yanmar Nmea update as priority :-)

When people are benchmarking catamarans and are asking questions about which one, answer should be: L450 because all the stuff you will need have already been studied, benchmarked and debunked by Dave! (And to be fair, Paul, Stephen and a few others...)
