Am Considering A Couple Needing Cat Experience Next Year In Med.

Hi we are cruising the Med in a Lagoon 440 3 Cabin version that's extremely well equipped, the Cat is about to be laid up for winter and we rejoin in April 2014 cruising Turkey, Crete, Pelopinnisos and down to Malta dependent on weather etc.

If there is a couple out their that wish to join us then we have a cabin with own facility's that will be empty.

The following may match your situation and if it does then PM me and we can explore the possibility.

1) Must have a sense of humour.
2) Must be fit and agile.
3) Must not be argumentative nor fragile.
4) We are late 50's so best you be close to that.
5) Non-smokers only.
6) Wide experience not necessary but the ability to learn is.
7) There is no free ride in this life so you must be financial.
8) This is not a charter it just seems silly that we are cruising such a large boat that others may enjoy.

This may suit if you are considering buying a Cat and want/need experience or if you'd rather bank your money and do something like this.

On this site i'll only answer basic questions as historically the arm-chair brigade will start. So if you may be interested let's talk.

Cheers Frank & Vivien 'DOMINOS'

I considered jumping ship, then I saw this line.
Unfortunately this rules me out. Very fragile here LOL .

We spent several delightful days anchored next to Frank and Viv recently. They are fantastic people, fun to be around and have a wonderful boat (even if it has the wrong number of hulls ). This would be a sensational opportunity for anyone.

Re: Am Considering A Couple Needing Cat Experience Next Year In Med.

Frank and Vivien,
Sheri and I are looking into buying a 450 lagoon and sailing on a 440 would be ideal.
I have my captains license(100 ton) and have bareboated in the carribbean, barrier reef, marquesas, Thailand, baha ha ha 07, Transpac 07. My primary boat is a twin diesel 42 express ( my harbor has a very low bridge). We are 57 and 50 yrs old.
We are both still working (Optometrist and Real Estate) so we need a rough time frame and rough costs estimate. Also, meeting prior to seems appropriate. We live in So California. Larry (eyecapt@gmail.com)

That sounds like a great opportunity! Cruising on a beautiful boat in the Med almost makes me want to rethink our plans of buying a new monohulls in the States next year.

Re: Am Considering A Couple Needing Cat Experience Next Year In Med.

Hi, my wife Susie and I fit the description well and would be interested in coming along, both of us sail and charter in the med/ Adriatic each year. We both love cooking and have great sense of humour. We are both mid fifties, I am semi retired so are flexible on dates. This year we helped friends take their boat from banners to faro via biscay which was an interesting trip.

Look forward to hearing from you. Best regards

Simon

Hey Frank & Vivian - clear your in box! It won't let us PM you!

We are VERY interested in this, sounds like the perfect opportunity to get some wind in our sails!

We have a very flexible schedule and this trip couldn't come at a better time for us. We're taking all the necessary steps to change our lives drastically and this change includes a Cat and some water

If you prefer, send us an email at knot_anchored@yahoo.com we would love to talk or even meet up with you to discuss.

Re: Am Considering A Couple Needing Cat Experience Next Year In Med.

Hi Frank and Vivien

As you can see below my husband and I have scored 7/7!

We are Canadians that have just retired both from the Canadian Military after 30 years service as engineering officers. We have owned a small catamaran (32 ft PDQ) for 3 years now learning everything we could sailing on the Great lakes in Ontario. It has been a dream of ours to sail the Med and the Caribbean. We have been actively looking for a larger cat over the past 6 months and are still undecided. The opportunity to sail on board yours sounds like an opportunity we absolutely need to explore! We have taken several boating and navigation courses including diesel engine maintenance.

Cheers
Rob and Brenda (both 50 yrs old)

Re: Am Considering A Couple Needing Cat Experience Next Year In Med.

Hi, sounds like you may already have enough crew,
Steve (51, NZ ex Olympic and AC sailor) and I (55, Aus/English) will be in the Med early June to early July, in Turkey/ Greece if you need company. We both own our own monohulls, 42 and 46'. Steve is a boat builder and we are both financially secure and don't work.

Re: Am Considering A Couple Needing Cat Experience Next Year In Med.

No decisions for a few reasons namely we are doing our maintenance and improvements to the boat prior to lift out and store on wednesday.

Viv is working up the planned route for next year ultimately storing again in either Spain/Gibralter or the Canaries ready for 2015 crossing.

Also costs are being worked out, Greece has just announced they are awaiting a November government approval of their 400 Euro plus fine that they plan on introducing for next years cruisers that dare visit their country.

Once we are back in Aussie we'll go through the interested peoples and make contact, we are really wanting people that wish to experience biggish cat cruising and share that with them.

I cleared the in-box a week or so ago. Cheers all

Re: Am Considering A Couple Needing Cat Experience Next Year In Med.

Hi again and thanks for your reply.
Forgot to mention we have just returned from 3 months sailing on a 46' Shawn Arber cat from Fiji to Vanuatu to Loyalty Islands, New Cal., part of the IAC rally. I have done a couple of other trips on a voyager cat and a custom made 46' cat.
Both of us are thinking of selling our/my yacht and replacing it with a cat.
cheers
Heather
