This is a High Quaility instrument. Fine Japanese MAC-4LV marine sextant in a wooden carrying case. This unit features a 4 x 40 mm Galilean telescope, 49mm circular horizon mirror, 33mm x 49mm index mirror, 162mm radius black-enameled brass scale with coarse and vernier scales. The coarse scale reads from -5 to +125 degrees with a vernier resolution is 1/6 minute of arc.
Both the horizon and index mirrors are equipped with three-stage neutral density filters to allow for reliable navigation under any ambient light conditions. The unit features a battery-operated scale light that is activated by pressing a button on the inner surface of the handle. This is comparable to the Tamaya sextants. Asking $500.00 plus shipping.
