Re: Help for an older gentleman

Post the VIN number that can be found on the starboard (right side) of the stern. It will contain the code for the manufacturer.

Re: Help for an older gentleman

The mast appears to be laying on the trailer on the starboard side so hopefully the sails are bagged in the cabin and I vote for a balboa 20 as well

It would have to be real old on an GRP hull not to have a HIN. It appears to be a lot of boat for 20ft. I hope the rig and rags can be found and she finds a good home.

Not necessarily really old hin's weren't required until November 1972 IIRC. The balboa 20 was first produced in 1967

I may well be wrong. It doesn't seem I ever had one or seen one without it prior well before 72. Maybe it was optional? Again I hope she finds a good home and thanks to the OP for helping someone who probably hates to see her go, probably knowing the reality.

Re: Help for an older gentleman

It has a 2015 registration sticker on the bow - he should have a piece of paper that he used to send away for that, and a piece of paper that came back with it. I would think they would both indicate what the boat is, and when it was built.

Now that everyone has mentioned it it does look like a balboa 20. I know another elderly gent with one sitting in his driveway - my father in-law. His is a 1969.
