OP, if you are interested in an Islander 32 Mk 2, shoal draft, with a Volvo diesel, that needs some work, let me know and I will email you some info. Boat is in Ft. Lauderdale. It's a very solid boat, designed by Bob Perry and could be a great cruiser for the Keys and Bahamas with its shoal draft.

i would like a blue water for ocean passage but im not sure if i can get that.starters would be carib,panama up to alaska?

My boat isnt "blue water" but it has been to the bahamas and back and across the gulf of mexico. Its 1980 us 30, fin keel draws 5"8" Its not a swan but its in ok cosmetic and good mechancial shape. Ive owned the boat for 3 years in that time Ive replaced or repaired just about every systemon the boat. New sails new rigging/standing and running, rebuilt diesel, new gps and autopilot If your interested I could get some pictures and a list of work done and work needed. Id be willing to sell the boat for less then 12k with just about everything on it, dinghy, outboard spares ect. I love the boat but have caught 3 ft itis.

I guess it depends on what you are willing to live with. I have my Olson 30 up for sale for $10,500. It will defiantly do the trip, and it's original home port was Alaska, but it has almost no creature comforts.

On the flip side we have realed off 150 mile days repeatedly, and I routinely sail it with the kite up single handedly.

Look on Craigs List for the SPACE COAST, FL. There is a FREE 27' off Merritt Island. Looks like a Vega. Price is right, then take your 12k and fix it up to do your trip

You would probably do well to hire a local broker who knows a lot of boats in your area and can get you access to them. Make sure it is a SAILBOAT specialist. I don't have any specific recommendations - can't say the brokers I've met in that area have impressed me in any particular way, except in their willingness to be simultaneously arrogant and ignorant.

The exception is some guys from Catamarans.com - not sure if they would be interested in helping you source a cheap monohull, but you could call them and see.

Seriously there is a tan green 1983 Hollman Horizon 27 foot here in Sanford for sale guy sailed it here from VA 14k but would likely take 12k
