Re: Tactics Plugin

Capt Ron I believe Thomas would like you to try install on linux of tactics pi. He may have fixed the user path problem in cmake. Ask him how to test it.

Re: Tactics Plugin

ok, I can give it a try later today. But I don't see, on Github, that he has made any changes to the files in the cmake directory. Nor has he responded to the issue you posted on this topic.

thanks,
Ron

Re: Tactics Plugin

I went thru my build process and (not surprisingly) I got the same results as I have not seen any changes to the source code on Github.

The good news is that I installed this under an OpenPlotter environment (different SD card than before) and the installation worked (albeit having to change the location of a couple of files).

Re: Tactics Plugin

Hi all, I've just installed this great plugin for OpenCPN 4.8.4 on Windows 10. I have Apparent Wind Angle&Speed coming in from my Raymarine ST60 win instrument, and SOG/COG coming in via a Garmin GPS, but I do not want to use my unreliable paddle wheel. I am interested in calculating True Wind Angle&Speed from the GPS SOG (which some here argue forcefully that this is actually "Ground Wind"). I think that this plugin offers that option by clicking the "Use SOG insted of STW..." option and (maybe) the "Force True Wind Calculation" option.

I have done all that, but get no readings for True Wind. Tactics plugin is successfully displaying Apparent Angle/Speed and SOG, so I know that it's receiving the input data, it's just not displaying the result.

FYI, I am testing this with VDR scripts at home - my boat is not in the water yet.

I appreciate any advice you can provide.

Re: Tactics Plugin

Perhaps something needs to be fixed. Are you using wmm? Can you upload your VDR file? We need to resolve this problem.

Meanwhile, try doing it with nmeaconverter there is an example in the wiki.

WMM was installed but disabled. I went back and enabled it, but still the same result. No True Wind stuff for any of my VDR scripts. I'll try to post some more details later, but for now I'm out of time after working on NMEAconverter all night.

Re: Tactics Plugin

Just wondering if this is linked to FlySpray #2094 (High priority).

In ShipDriver I was not able to show "True" wind direction when I generated the $**MWV(True) sentence. This could have been caused by the bug.

Re: Tactics Plugin

Hi,

just wanted to let you know that I installed tactics_pi on my raspberry pi with openplotter 1.2.0, which is running in stretch.

As I'm dont know much about Linux etc., I simply did everything as CapnRon47 wrote.
The only bigger differences were that I had to install:
libcurl3-dev
libtinyxml2.6.2
libwxgtk3.0-0

and that libbz2-dev had to be installed.

There were a lot of warnings while compiling about variables etc, but its running now. The .io file had to be copied like CapnRon47 said.

Could activate the plugin, have the instruments, the laylines are there, current is shown and a polar can be displayed.
Will check performance and stability the next days.

Thank you guys for all the information here and for this wonderful plugin!!!!

Re: Tactics Plugin

Just wanted to report hat I have the plugin running on my raspberry pi under openplotter 1.2.0 which is having Stretch as OS.

Worked fine with CapnRon47's instructions. Only things that were different were:
Had to install manually libcurl3-dev, libtinyxml2.6.2, libwxgtk3.0-0. And for BZ2 to run libbz2-dev had to be installed.

There were some warnings when going on about variables that are not used etc. but now it runs pretty fine.
I have the instruments, the laylines, current and a polar are displayed and it looks identical to my PC-Version.

I will test if its stable the next days.

Hello World !
By advance, apologize me for my very poor English.
Is there a document, something, that synthesizes the installation of the Tactics plugin, on Raspberry (Rasbian Stretch, not Openplotter)?
I do not read English well enough to follow a whole discussion on a forum :-(
Thanks by advance
