Status bar text

I'm running OpenCPN 5 on a mac and on a Pi4

I've noticed that on the Mac the status bar and it's text is light and easy to read. On the Pi4 with a monitor at the helm, the status bar is impossible to read. It is much darker and is dark grey text on a dark background.

I've had a play with font/colour options, but so far not found anything that will change it.

Can someone tell me the exact setting needed to lighten this text?

Options->User Interface>Fonts->StatusBar does not react to changes in fonts or colors. I have tested this on Ubuntu 18.04 and Win 10.
Direcly editing the config file makes no difference either.
This is clearly a bug.

I have a PR ready to submit that will allow selecting the font and color of the status bar. One issue though is that the color will be fixed even when changing to night modes. I don't know if this is a real problem though. If any thoughts on that would be interested to hear about it.

Night colors might be a problem, if the user picks very bright colors. Not so easy to come up with a good solution, though... but...

I think we could do with a shortcut to hide the Status Bar. There is CTRL-B to hide the Chart Bar, while for the Status Bar you have to enter the Options dialog. The option to hide the Status Bar should also be included in the Menu Bar, which is not the case today.
