Re: ShipDriver - another BETA!!!

Hello Mike,
In the language file (Crowdin), I see this item:

- Speed Control

How to understand it?

In addition, there is:
- Tiller control
- Autopilot control

I guess you wonder if the boat is "steer by hand" or the "autopilot"?

Re: ShipDriver - another BETA!!!

Hello,

I try 0.6.

Not good. I use a grib file just downloaded. But, SD do not accept my grib file.

See screen copy.

Speed control is the engine control/throttle. When you are in Sail mode it will not operate (I think!).

Tiller control is the tiller at the top of the dialog. It will override the autopilot. Would it be better to make it inactive when the auto button is pressed?

Autopilot control is not a full autopilot but just allows the user to work with the buttons at the bottom of the dialog.

Now ... Sail mode. Did you 'right-click' to select the vessel start position. I need to add something to give a warning if you go straight to sail. If you did select the start position before using 'Sail' could you send me the grib you have used?

Thanks.

Re: ShipDriver - another BETA!!!

Thanks for the bug reports.

I have updated the 0.6 preview version for Windows with a new installer on GitHub, which should stop those problems.

https://github.com/Rasbats/shipdrive...eases/tag/v0.5

The Grib wind informaton is now fed to Dashboard, so that you can see the true and apparent wind angles.

Mike

p.s. NavMonPC is a great tool for viewing NMEA output and comparing it with Dashboard.

Re: ShipDriver - another BETA!!!

After a number of false starts I have now posted version 0.6 code and installers on GitHub. Hope all the work that Pavel contributed has now been retained.

AIS and sailing are working.

The wxFormBuilder file should be in sync with the gui code.

https://github.com/Rasbats/shipdrive.../tag/v0.6_beta

If there are no further bug reports intend pushing this out as a release version 1.0 in the next week or two.

Re: ShipDriver - another BETA!!!

Thanks for writing the plugin. I have been 'sailing' it a little on my first install of OpenCPN and first time loading charts and GRIB data.

It seems to be working fine, both motoring and sailing. As long as I watch where I am going...I went though a breakwater motoring my first session.

Is there enough information between Shipdriver, GRIB, and OpenCPN to light up more of the Dashboard gauges? I am looking for a gauge to show how the wind is hitting the boat. Apparent wind? I need to qualify this by saying I sail smaller craft that currently do not have any gauges so their care and feeding is new to me.

Sometime I loose color on the control panel (Win10) but it is still running fine.

Are there dedicated keys that correspond to the slider functions?

Again, thanks for the efforts on the plugin. I am really enjoying it.

Re: ShipDriver - another BETA!!!

Sorry, missed apparent wind when I updated the master code. It is in a preview version:

https://github.com/Rasbats/shipdrive...eases/tag/v0.5

I will fix this soon!

Re: ShipDriver - another BETA!!!

Master code and 0.6 beta release have now been updated. For the sail option true wind angle/speed and apparent wind angle/speed are available in Dashboard. True wind direction is not available due to a bug (discussed in Flyspray #2094).

Re: ShipDriver - another BETA!!!

Rick,

OpenCPN 4.8.8 or less? Plugin installed using the installer.

Grib plugin enabled and has a GRIB file with wind for the present time and the location where you want to sail?

ShipDriver dialog is on-screen?
'Right-Click' and use 'Vessel Start Position' to position the boat?

Start button.
Sail button. If working the speed will show in the dialog.

If you continue to crash please let us know the sequence which causes this and a fix should be possible.

What polar file is used?
Where is it?
Sometime, can we set our own polar file, or is that even worthwhile?

Re: ShipDriver - another BETA!!!

"Polar" on my pc is here:
'C:\Program Files (x86)\OpenCPN\plugins\ShipDriver_pi\data'

Based on an Arcona (model?).

The polar could easily be edited for your own boat.
