Hmmm, I have the entire US. Works for me.

Below, quilt_0.gif is quilting off, quilt_1.gif is quilting on. coverage.gif shows the chart outlines for the ENC charts.

Most of the ICW charts are what used to be called "Small Craft Charts". They were printed on long strips of paper and were oriented to make a long stretch of the ICW fit the paper instead of putting north at the top of the page. Those skewed charts are marked in OpenCPN with a red stripe and they are not included in the chart quilt. If you want to see them you need to turn off chart quilting. You can do that (1) by pressing F9, (2) by changing the setting in the Toolbox, or (3) by clicking on the button for that chart in the taskbar.

The red stripe skew warning only applies to the raster BSB charts (RNCs). Since the thread title says S57, I'm thinking that doesn't apply here.

You're right. I should have been paying closer attention.

I think it's just that NOAA's ENCs don't incorporate data from small craft charts. For example, when I look at US4FL18M and US4FL40M they seem to duplicate the coverage from RNCs 11424 and 11426. Both of those charts refer you to 11425 for details in the ICW and 11427 for Estero Bay.

I sent a query to NOAA about it. I'll report back what they reply.

Re: S57 Charts in Version 2.5

The raster version will work if quilting off and then use the max detail here option , that will put the detail in that location, then it will show up after quilt re activated. no luck so far on s57

Re: S57 Charts in Version 2.5

After much messing around, seems S57 does not cover ICW in Florida, however having both raster and s57 installed one can work it that full coverage exists by good use of quilting on/off and raster everywhere where s57 does not cover...

Re: S57 Charts in Version 2.5

Is there a simple way to toggle between raster and s57's.

Can you give me a specific location? A screen shot? As you can see from one of my earlier posts, I had detail of the ICW at Miami FL. According to the chart outlines, there are no detail charts for NE or central West.

Here's what the Office of Coast Survey had to say on the issue:

OCS response: Thank you for your report on the IWW along the west coast of Florida.
The areas behind the barrier keys along that shore have not been made into ENCs.
This program (ENCs) was initiated to accomodate large vessel and commercial traffic.
The first ENCs collected have been the major ports and the waters traveled to connect them.
The other areas are being completed as we have resources available.
Under the current schedule we project the areas of the bays covered by the West Coast Florida Small Craft Charts to be posted sometime in 2013.
I am sorry for the inconvenience and appreciate the desire for that coverage.
Douglas Perkins

At least you know it isn't a problem with OpenCPN.

You can. Set up you charts directory so that it contains one directory for Raster Navigational Charts (RNCs) and another for Electronic Navigational Charts (ENCs). Select the upper lever directory as the active charts directory in OpenCPN with Toolbox/Charts. With quilting off RNCs have blue buttons across the bottom of the OpenCPN screen and ENCs have green ones. When you turn on quilting the buttons change to rounded corners. When you select an ENC its button will be bright green and other ENCs will be gray with green borders while the RNCs will have solid blue buttons. When you select an RNC its button will be light gray and the other RNCs will have light gray borders while the ENCs will be solid green. The hollow buttons show you what's included in the quilt. It makes more sense when you actually do it than when you're trying to picture it from a description.

Did I answer your question?
