Radar stuck on standby - FIXED

I am running opencpn 5.2 on a Raspberry Pi 4. I have suffered - as have others - the dreaded problem of the radar (Garmin xHD in my case) being stuck in standby. Clicking the start button does not take the radar out of standby.

In playing around last night, pointing to the WiFi icon in the upper right corner, I noticed that eth0 was listed as up, but configuring. I did a search on that and found that if you deselect the option "fill empty boxes". To get to this dialog, right click on the WiFi icon in the upper right and the left click on wired and wireless configuration. Leave the interface box alone, but choose eth0 in the box beside it. Here you will get a window that shows details on eth0 - including the check box for fill empty boxes.

I had to restart opencpn, but the radar worked right away on starting it, the radar worked.

Many thanks for sharing this info.
Since Garmin, apart from other radar scanners, need a dedicated IP address could you screen shot the used Network Preferences on your RPi?

For my 18” Garmin xHD I used the following:
Ip address. 172.16.1.1/12
Netmask 255.240.0.0
DNS 8.8.8.8
DNS 2. 4.4.4.4

That is all the info I used
Terminal command to set it up is
Audi ifconfig eth0 172.16.1.1/12 netmask 255.240.0.0 up
