Question OFF-Topic: Exchange of Wi-Fi in RADAR

I've been trying to contact with Furuno Spain and I didn't get any answer.

I've a Furuno RADAR DRS54W (wi-fi) and it has its own wifi. It's connected to Furuno plotter (wifi) also could be connected to iPhone & iPad via app.

no available app for Android neither Windows and I haven't such devices, only my wife and daughter (I use to scape from i..., sorry old computing school).

Of course it would be marvellous to have a plugin for connecting it to OCPN, but I guess that everything related to Furuno is rather complicated.

the real matter is that I want my RADAR being connected to my wifi point (in the router) on that way I could have connected my plotter to internet and not disconnecting from RADAR from time to time for updating software/firmware.

is it possible without intervention of Service Engineer to exchange the wifi access point and being in the same than the boat herself?

It's for sure not more complicated than others but to extend radar plugin with the Furuno wifi we need a developer with access to such a device to make "reverse engineering". See also the discussion here.


For set up of the Furuno wifi I suggest you look in the manual for the device. If it for example could be set to use DHCP from a router?

that's the main thing, I've gone through all document received on installation and also downloaded from Furuno web page and I cannot find anything related to exchange the wifi settings.
for such reason I'm asking here if anybody has a clue about.

and also nothing related to connection parameters like you said DHCP.
all setting and function are based in the use of the IOS app and something more with the plotter but nothing related to wifi connection.
