opencpn wont read grib

morning people,
I have window 8.1 use predictawind off shore app to receive gribs then read them in opencpn,

I just had my computer cleaned to improve speed and had to reinstall the above programs now when I try to open the grib file in opencpn it say sorry cant read,

never had this before, I tried reinstalling open cpn a few times but same result I download stable 4.0.0 from the official website
I was using that before ,
is there a another version I should try or something,
greatly appreciate the help, on the hook in colon panama waiting to transit the canal

The name unfortunately does not help at all, please either change the extension to .doc and the forum should accept it, or put it on eg. ExpireBox and post a download link here.

This is a GRIB version 2 file, which OpenCPN does not currently support (and never did).
Work on this file format support has recently been started as you can see in http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/...n2-152224.html so it will hopefully be available in the next release.

I have exactly the same problem, and came here to post the same thing.
Just as well I looked at the last dozen OpenCPN posts or I woulda got flamed like a marshmellow !

Free In The Sea, I did notice that I could view the detailed gribs (eg. 8k), but not the global ones.

I guess they use the older format for the higher resolution gribs.
(one is attached just for reference).

and sorry for the delay we just competed our panama canal transit last night, and happily on the pacific side,

perdictawind responded with that they have had similar responses and that they will be bringing they on grib file viwer online at the end of the month,

but I really do love the over lay on opencpn,
I don't know what's changed as we use to use it all the time before I had to reload, I will try a reload of each again with could internet and if nit succeful will have to wait to what perdictawind come up with,
