Re: OpenCPN Version 5 Released

Linux Mint 18.0.10: Every thing up to date from PPA etc.

I'm seeing glitches in the route properties window. Such as:

if I try to change the planned speed - double click to highlight the default speed (6) and type 5 expecting it to replace the six, instead it appends. Unable to delete with the delete key but backspace works.

Can't select anything other than the hours in the departure time spinner. This does odd things such as displays blank after changes but is not consistent.

The may be others. I haven't fiddled with them all yet.

If a waypoint is imported from a machine with a different set of tide stations it is possible to hang the waypoint properties dialogue by selecting a tide station that is on the existing PC and then re-selecting the the non-existent station from the list box where it still shows up. Exact clicks required to do this I haven't nailed down precisely but when I try and close the properties with the x and then force it I get a complete crash.

Nothing in the log :

Moo...

I can reproduce the former two on Linux/wxGTK, but not the last one so to fix that I would really appreciate those exact clicks...

Thanks

Re: OpenCPN Version 5 Released

Now I have a small glitch both under WIN7 and WIN10. THe icons of he plugins just black out (become a dark square) whenever you click on one plugin (initially they display correctly but after the first click several blank out)

Moreover under WIN10 I installed the FindIt plugin but I can't find it listed when I try to enable it while on WIN7 I can see that correctly.

Re: OpenCPN Version 5 Released

I made a big mistake in installation, did not back uptracks immediately before hand and the thumb drive I had them on doesn't seem to work. Any way to recover before I do any thing else?

What exactly should we imagine as "thumb drive does not work"? Can you see it in the system? Can you see any files or folders on it? What operating system are you using?

Re: OpenCPN Version 5 Released

Not sure if this is the correct place for my comments but I wish to congratulate the team for Ver5 of OpenCPN. I am looking forward to using it further in my cruising.
I did have problems upgrading but have sorted them out for now. It appears my old CM93 2010 charts used primarily for Australia and SE Asia cause errors when zooming multiple times. I have solved this for the time being by purchasing Australian PNG charts from o-charts.org for 35Euro and am very happy with this, I still need to solve chart issue for SE Asia for when I return in a couple of years.

Brief explanation of problems and approach:
After upgrading to ver5 OpenCPN would crash without any screen message after multiple zooms. Error code from log is VBO Error c: 1280 or 1283.
I trouble shooted by doing a clean installation without any old routes, tracks, waypoints or layers. ie. new navobj files and configuration file. Still same crashing problem.
I removed CM93 charts and the basic gshhs world map zoomed fined as expected.
I added KAP files and they zoomed OK and no crashes.
Reinstalled CM93 and the crashes returned.

I may have missed a solution to this in the forum but decided the purchase of legal charts now available was the way to go. Hopefully SE Asia ia available soon.

I use OpenCPN for planning and developing GPX files for the boat plotters as it is an excellent tool. Also OpenCPN is used inthe saloon to monitor the boat independently to primary plotter and autopilot functions. Also the AIS tools on OpenCPN are excellent for AIS monitoring when crossing busy shipping lanes.

Thanks again for a great program.

OK this results in a crash every time.

open the properties of an imported waypoint that has a reference tide station that is not in the tides file on the current host PC

open the extended tab and the tide station will show the name from the imported GPX

click the ~ show tides button - crash

Normally if you did an upgrade your tracks would just appear in OCPN as they were before.

So.. what upgrade path did you use?

GSwanell

I suspect your cm93 charts are corrupted.

I've sent you a PM.

I checked the log file for the "findit" plugin problem.
simply it's looking for "findit_pi.dll" in the plugin directory but fails to find it whereas the .dll is right there (271Kb) and all the spellings are correct.

I checked the directories tree in my WIN7 (where the findit plugin is properly loaded) and in WIN10 (where it fails to load) and those are perfectly identical.

I am puzzled

This also happens on mine. I have a screenshot of it on one of the earlier pages

(see attached photo)

I checked on opencpn.mo via its .po (see photo), the item "show tide stations" is however well translated into French ...
However, I did not find the phrase "show tide stations" in this opencpn.mo.

I suppose the untranslated items are in another file than opencpn.mo.

Which file is it, I will make all the modifications if necessary...

Saturday, we did an initiation / training at OpenCPN 5.0.

15 people were present.
About these people, about 5 or 6 had the same lack of translation (show tide stations) ...

All had downloaded OCN on the official website.
I checked at home on another PC, I also have this lack of translation.

Regarding the other participants, they had the translation:
show tide stations <=> Ports de référence.

But none, I say none, understood the meaning of this translation.
For discussion with everyone present, this translation should be: * montrer les marées* (like the one below: *montrer les courants*).

Finally, can someone tell me exactly where is the expression "Show Tides station" in opencp.po?

Moreover, by looking in opencpn.po for "Tides and Currents" which is not translated either, I found in opencpn.po the expression "Tides && Current" (see illustration).
Could this exemple (perhaps?) explain some of these errors?

Re: OpenCPN Version 5 Released

From the tide tables of CHS:-
Ports de référence is translated for Reference ports
Ports secondaires is translated for secondary ports

As far as Show tides it should be translatted as Montrer les marées ou ce qui est encore mieux/or if you prefer:- voir les marées.
I hope this should clarified the wording for everyone.
Bye
