Re: OpenCPN Version 4.2 Released

Hi,

the ppas are not updatet yet? Just a question not a compliant.

(following theese instructions:

For Ubuntu Linux and it's derivatives (Linux Mint) and Debian Jessie based distributions, OpenCPN is distributed from a PPA
If you are not sure how to add the repository to your system, read the chapter Configuring Ubuntu PPA in the user manual.

For RPM based distribution (Fedora, CentOS, RHEL), add the repository to your system and install OpenCPN using the following commands:
yum install http://je.onfray.fr/repo/fedora/20/x86_64/jeo-release-1.2-1.fc20.noarch.rpm yum install opencpn
For Debian derivatives, you can use the same packages as for some Ubuntu releases
Debian Oldstable (Wheezy)
You can use the packages from the Ubuntu PPA mentioned above. The compatible Ubuntu Release is Lucid. Unfortunately we can't add new Lucid builds to the PPA anymore due to it being obsolete, so if you need newer plugins, you may try to use Precise packages instead (you will most likely also need to upgrade your libc6 to version 2.15 or newer, so please consider switching to Jessie completely).
Debian Stable (Jessie)
You can use the packages from the Ubuntu PPA mentioned above. The compatible Ubuntu Release is Trusty )

Re: OpenCPN Version 4.2 Released

Andreas29...

The PPA's for OCPN 4.2 have not been updated to Release status yet. We are having credential issues at launchpad. We will get that sorted out within the next few days.

The existing 4.1.1329 PPA builds are so very close to the Release versions, and are fully usable now. All that really changed is the Version number. Just in case you need something right now...

Thanks
Dave

Re: OpenCPN Version 4.2 Released

In OpenCPN 4.2, for the properties window of a Waypoint, the units for distance (Kilometers or Nautical Miles) are not translated to any other language.

However, in OpenCPN Draw, for the properties window of a Point (which is an identical window), these units are translated correctly.

After clicking 'Properties' in the pop up menu of a Waypoint (OpenCPN 4.2), it takes relatively long before the window is displayed. For a Point (Draw) the same clicking action has an immediate result.

I'm using W10.

Thanks again!!!! Great job!!!

Welcome to the Woods Mira 35 - Catamaran Lady Rovers Website!
Win 10 has probably reset your default after an update, or you have inadvertently agreed to a Microsoft default, or you have logged onto Win 10 with another account or logged out.

Also, Win 10 no longer associates file types to applications even if you have set your default to TB. If OCPN uses file extension to open TB email then you will have to reset this in the Win 10 control panel not just in Settings.

Second the Great job!!!

Re: OpenCPN Version 4.2 Released

Great new functionalities, congratulations to developpers !

I've got the following bug to report :
When I open a new route with a starting point very close to an existing Way Point, then the popup asking to accept Y/N this WP has 2 behaviours:
- on a Win10 PC, it hangs up, i need to stop manually OpenCPN
- on a WinXP PC, I get a crash report popup windows, I could fill it once and sent it.

When doing the same on a new WP newly created , everything is working correctly.

(This is my very first post here, just registered on the forum, I hope i'm clear enough)

NAV.. Gille..
Actually the same in Swedish. (But not a big issue here since the translated word are nearly the same since I don't use "Sea miles (Sjömil)" .)

The Ubuntu PPA's does not seem to be updated yet. Anyone who knows when this is expected ?. I understand from another post that it was some trouble with the credentials ??

With W 8.1. Enable the two slider in "Options/User interface"

My first route, already traced, imported or newly drawn with several WP.
I draw a second route with a first WP far from the first route and a second WP very close to a WP of the first route. Popup opens and I select "Yes" or "No". No problem.
BUT
If I place the first WP of the second route very close to a WP of the first route, then crash.
Easily reproduced.

I checked the opencpn.log and each time I get this entry at the last line:
21:19:19: ***GPS Watchdog timeout at Lat:47.5409 Lon: -2.8979

What does this GPS timeout means ?
on 4.0 on the same platform and same HW ( with no GPS connected, just for testing) I do not have this.

I hope this helps
