OpenCPN too bright at night

Last night I discovered that the menu bar at the top does not go into night mode along with the rest of the display. This photo was in the morning, but you can see the bar I am talking about.
I poked around and could not figure out how to get rid of it. Am I missing something? The OS is Mint and the computer is a hacked Chromebook.
In other news, the split screen is incredibly useful Among other things you see AIS traffic a long way off.

Re: OpenCPN too bright at night

The first question would be:
Do you need the menu?
Under Options | User Interface you can disable the interface.

Second question is:
Why don't you change the windows colors?
The menu bar follows the general user interface settings of Windows/MacOS/Linux.
You can choose a dark user interface with a dark header and menu bar if you want.

Thanks! I was trying to figure this out underway, so I didn't have a ton of time to devote to it unless I wanted to be a danger to navigation. Now it seems so obvious
