OpenCPN and Mac Crashes - GSHHG Basemaps

Hello all,
I am having an issue with OpenCPN crashing every time I try and update/download the GSHHG base maps? I am using a Mac running OS 10.14.6 (Mojave) OpenCPN version 5.2.4+6b314e6

In the GSHHG world basemap catalog it shows 5 available updates -

Coastal Polygons v2.3.7 crude resolution, Low res, Intermediated res, High res and full res

When I select these and hit download selected charts, openCPN crashes??

Any ideas, what am I doing wrong? Thanks

FWIW, I can't reproduce your problem on up to date mac machine. Please attach the crash report generated by macOS after the application crashes.

Unfortunately not, what we want to look at is the crash report generated by macOS after the application crashes (after it crashes, the OS should show you a dialog asking to Relaunch the app, Ignore the problem or generate a crash report)
We would like to see that crash report which contains the backtrace of the crash itself.

No Mac OS doesn't show anything?? OpenCPN just crashes, nothing appears onscreen? I just restart openCPN and get the attached message?

None of that is any useful. If there were crash reports generate, they would be under User Reports on Mojave if I remember correctly.
The last thing you may try is to run OpenCPN form the commandline (Open Terminal.app and execute /Applications/OpenCPN.app/Contents/MacOS/OpenCPN) and see if anything gets dumped into the terminal window.

Does OpenCPN crash only on the GSHHS base charts download?

You can still of course download the archives manually from https://github.com/chartcatalogs/gsh...ses/tag/v2.3.7 and extract them to your system without the use of the downloader.

I tried via terminal and got the follow dumped there -

That is our problem, the archives can't de decompressed on your machine. All you can do except waiting for a new OpenCPN release where we may try to use a different libarchive build is to decompress them yourself manually.
