Hi, I have a Nexus NX2 sending nmea sentences for wind data, temperature, speed and depth to my Rpi. All can be displaid and seams to be right. Only thing I can not get to work is STW on dashboard. The Nexus is sending VHW and I thought that would be sufficient? Do I need to install the nmea converter plugin and how shall it be setup?
Today I am only using the normal page for connections in OpenCPN to handle all data streams.

The "E ", this is a bug I'm afraid. Or more an overlooked feature of the Calc engine, where E is returning the last error code.
Will be fixed in the next release, utill then as a workaround using "É" or "e" or "È" or "Ẽ" might help.

Hi Dirk,

I tried using "É" or "e" or "È" or "Ẽ" but no luck. I guess I'll just have to wait for the fix.

I fully appreciate you do this on a voluntary basis and I don't want to sound ungrateful for your marvellous work in developing this plugin, but any idea when the next release will come out?

The "E" bug is fixed in git.

And for the formula hackers, It is also possible to use "pi" instead of 3.14159265 and "deg" instead of 3.14159265/180

Now also in git an extra checkbox to make calculations in degrees instead of radians.
Please do test! If things work as hoped, I can make a new release.

When in active use in my boat to calculate true wind, the current release works for an hour or so, but invariably hangs after an hour or so. True direction goes to 0 and stays there, and true speed goes to impossible values (320 kts, etc.). Maybe the problem is with my formula, but I would hope that the calculation would reset itself and go back to correct calculations at some point. Instead, I need to quit out of OpenCPN and restart to get it to work. Any idea what might be wrong?

Pls. post your formula and an example of the nmea sentences used for calculations.

Probably a stupid questrion but: Sitting on a Linux platform with version 4.8.4 and are trying to install the nmeaconverter.
It is said to be a plugin but I can not find it in the repos. Tried 'apt-cache search opencpn-plugin' but it does not show up (a number of other plugins do). I've installed numerous other prugins using 'sudo apt-get install opencpn-plugin-<plugin_name>' but this one beats me.

Installing the .deb is an option but the manual page says to use the plugin procedure.

The PI is indeed not in the repos, so you should use the .deb package.

And could not solve the problem with the display of air temperature instead of 999 from the weather station Airmar WX150
Did the delay incoming data in 3 seconds, also in the settings of the plug-in itself set various delays. There is no result!
The correct air temperature value is sometimes displayed but basically always 999.
Is it possible to correct the situation by modifying the nmeaconverter?

Installed ' nmeaconverter_pi_1.0-1_amd64.deb' on a linux Ubuntu 16.04 standard installation with opencpn 4.8.4 and got this error in the opencpn log file:

After updating 'libstdc' to a later version containing `GLIBCXX_3.4.21' and reinstalling both programs I am getting:

Error: /usr/lib/opencpn/libnmeaconverter_pi.so:
